"Carolina Scots" is not a book I am familiar with. Is it in general print so
as to be available to my local library? Who is the author?
Looking for Christopher Columbus Campbell b. 1808 in Sumter District of SC.,
m. Louisa Elizabeth Bowen and had one child, Columbus Washington b. 1838 in
Sumter District.

My Edward came in to Charleston in 1788, so yours was here before mine. I
looked in the book "Carolina Scots" and I couldn't believe that there
wasn't
an Edward Campbell in there. If you are sure that he was in
Cumberland
County, NC you should get on the Rootsweb list for that county also. When
you
make a query to the list give as much info as you have even if it is
something that you just think may be. Try to give all names and places and
relatives known to you. You may want to try the USGenweb site and go to NC
and make a general search for him, he may have been somewhere in NC before
the 1790 census that would show up on land, Tax list or an early census
that
some states did or counties. SC did one in 1779. Good luck.
