Ann In Kansas:
I am in a group searching a Campbell family from Cumberland / Franklin Co's,
abt. 1740's Pa. into Hamilton Co., Ohio abt 1806, into Scott Co., Indiana
bef. 1817 and Warren / Henderson Co's. IL. spring of 1829. We are searching
a William & Frances Campbell, (seems everyone is a William) in PA . A John
Campbell and his wife Jane Ritchey Campbell are the direct line of the wife.
The reason I write is that there are two William Preston Campbell's in this
group. The first looks like a brother to John and the second is a son of
John. It appears they married sisters in IL. a Caroline Morehead and Lucinda
Morehead. William Preston Campbell b. 1850 IL. , son of John, is the
g-grandfather of the wife. He was in Iowa for a short time where a daughter
was born and then moved to Washington Twp., Stone County, MO. in 1869. The
family appears on that 1870 census.
In aid to you, my first work centered around William Preston Campbell part
of a family of a John Campbell that came out of NC. early in the 1800's and
went to Knox, Harlan & Perry Co's. KY.
There is a William Preston in that family that was in Mercer Co., MO. in the
1850's but turns out not to be the one we are searching for. I would
suggest that you start the search of this family in Perry Co., KY. (of
course around what became Hazzard)
Good luck and if you have or do run across our family in your search, please
give me a yell.
