Appreciate the information; at least it rules out something, which, of
course, is a type of progress!<g>
Thanks again,

the
references I've checked show his heir, etc., they only mention that he
had three other daughters; no names, no marriages. Surely someone out there
has "Gloomy Archibald's" daughters?

and is listed as the son of a Robert Colquhoun by a Katherine
McAuselan. I can't find a Campbell anywhere in the immediate ancestry of
this Robert Colquhoun, and as his son, William Campbell Colhoun, also
married a Catherine McCausland, I begin to wonder if perhaps there wasn't a
transcription error in this line and that the Catherine who married Robert
Colquhoun was, in fact, a Campbell.

For the list & Larry Coats -- I have a book called "The House of Argyll &
the Collateral
Branches of the Clan Campbell" -- and it says that the 8th Earl
& 1st
Marquess of Argyll's
daughters were: LADY ANNE, who died without issue, famed for her
worth &
accomplishments; LADY JEAN, married to Robert Kerr, first Marquis of
Lothian, had issue;
LADY MARY, married to George Sinclair, Earl of Caithness, by whom she
had
issue &
second married John Campbell, Earl of Breadalbane & had issue.
There are no names of any of the issue. Drat! Can't help with William.
Hope this helps,
