I noticed a lot of Pennsylvania information lately on the Campbells so here is my poser.
NEIS (NIES, NEICE NEESE) CAMPBELL, b. October of 1847, Dungloe, Co. Donegal area, Ireland.
From his Declaration of Intent found in Iowa, he came to the USA, New York, in February
of 1870. Family stories called the Campbells "Just a bunch of Pennsylvania
Dutch". He married BRIDGET McCARRON (McCARRAN) in 1877-1878, unknown where, have
found no records. Bridget's parents were JAMES McCARRON (McCARRAN) and ANNA BELL
BOYLE. McCarron's lived in the Hazelton, Pa. area as several children were born
there. I have found no birth records as of yet. They are listed on the 1880 Iowa census
as being born in PA. I did find the Death Certificate of Bridget's sister; born in
Hazelton, PA.
In 1879, Neis Campbell and the McCarron's and lots of Irish from the Pennsylvania area
ended up in Dougherty, Iowa. They followed a Daniel Dougherty, who also lived in PA for
some time. I am at a loss for information on Neis from 1870 until 1879. I have lots from
1879 on as he lived and died in 1912 in Dougherty, Iowa.
Anyone got some clues as to where to look for PA info?? The 1870 census has turned up
nothing, and there were no marriage records or birth records in Hazelton or Wilkes Barre.
Thanks for any info!! Missing Campbells from PA, might have ended up out west after the
Molly Incidents. That's where mine ended up.
