Hi I come from the Maine Campbells that came over from Scotland and Ireland. I am a decendant of William Campbell born 1708 in Scotland. He and his brothers Alexander and James settled in Maine. I do not have that much on James and I do not know who their parents were but I have a lot of other information on William and Alexander. If you wish to view my tree please send me a message through ancestry and I will send out an invitation to you.
I also have a lot of info on William Campbell born 1718 the son of a James Campbell from Cherry Valley NY. I at first thought he was my relative but have since found the proof that he was not. I have left that info on my tree because somewhere down the road they may all have a connection.

Phineas Campbell, m. 1817, Sterling MA., Abigail Brown
d. 1833, intestate, Lunenburg, MA
No marriage record and no grave.
He died intestate and no death certificate so no record of where born.
There is a Phineas Campbell, b. 1793 in Bedford, NH, but there is absolutely no evidence that shows this Phineas to be in any way related to my Phineas. You may see that I've had to expend a bit of energy persuading people who used my research that there is no relation.
Here is a link to my Campbell research:

I am searching for family of Mary Campbell born 1758 probably PA, married
Samuel Elliott circa 1777 in PA and died in Newark, Licking Co., OH. Her
parent was possibly a Patrick Campbell born circa 1732 in Ireland. My
suspicion is that Sam Elliott during the Am Revolution met and married Mary
in the Allentown area of PA.

If your Campbell ancestors lived in NH during the 1700s, eastern NY
(especially Cherry Valley area) during the end of 1700s and beginning of 1800s,
Westfied/Portland, NY later, the Sandusky/Bellevue area of Ohio around the
mid 1800s, and Valparaiso area of IN in the later 1800s, then we may have a
connection so please contact me.
If you want more information I’d be happy to send it. If you want, I can
send you about a 70 page genalogy of Thomas Campbell’s descendants. I’m
also copying Susan Sauve, a very active member of our group.
About a year ago I had a DNA match (except for one marker) with Campbells
in Maine whose earliest know ancestor was James Campbell in the early 1700s
in Maine. Our Mary Campbell (item 1 above) married John Tufts and moved
to Maine 1768. Unfortunately we haven’t been able to find a connection
between their James and our Thomas. If you descended from Campbells in Maine
about that time I would also like to hear from you.

Hi, just wanting to post to this group for any future info. My Archibald
Campbell son of Angus & Christina m. Mary MacArthur daughter of Allan &
Christina and had 5 children all born in Iona, Scotland between 1835 & 1852.
Can't say I can find fault with those unsubscribing, primarily as a result
of AT's efforts on the list.
I have complained privately to the List Admin on more than one occasion
regarding AT's posts, and have even suggested that AT be placed on permanent
moderation - not because of his style or writing but as result of him
"flaming" other list members, accompanied sometimes by racist overtones.
But nothing ever seems to get done - I suspect he, for some reason, is a
protected species.
Like many others, as soon as I see who the sender is, I immediately delte
AT's messages - so I guess his effectiveness as a researcher is limited to
this extent.
If this comment ON list gets me moderated or banned, so be it.
Regards,
Ian MARR

I have not posted in a very long time and have not really kept up with the
research. I just read a few emails and wondered if anyone has researched
old newspaper archives for Campbell information? I was able to find some good
information on my Smith family from old newspaper archives.
Also, information can be found in neighboring counties courthouses. For one
of my family lines, there was a suit that had to do with the inheritance
and guardianship of my mother's g-g-grandfather who was living in
Mississippi at the time. My mother's g-g-g-g-grandfather had lived in Alabama
before they arrived in Mississippi. We knew they lived in Neshoba County,
Mississippi but had no idea that they had ever lived in Noxubee County where my
Smith family had lived. I was digging through a box of papers that had
never been indexed and found the name Breedlove. When I dug through it, I
found that it was my ancestors. A unique twist is that one of them had
married into one of my Smith family's collaterial lines
I have to agree with Ian-I also delete messages from AT

I agree. One of my Campbell families has completed Y-DNA, and according to
Campbell DNA Project Coordinator, my daughter is kin to a lot of you. I
hope to stay active on this list, too.

My 2 cents:
- The email formatting of this list is problematic. Everything comes as text
and that makes very difficult to read and write.
- AT Powell Jr's form of writing is also problematic: Writing all in CAPS,
which, in Internet emailing, is like shouting all the time. And this list
makes it even worse. Maybe change it to something more readable? Like yahoo
or google lists? Something HTML friendly?
- I used to follow people's comments, except for AT's. It is painful to read
them. There is no punctuation, no flow of information or words, no
proofreading, no paragraphing, bad grammar, etc. To me they look like:
AFSJKLJKL ASJKDLHJKLASH ASDJKHKJLASHDAS SALHJJKHJKJKLALSKJHJKASH
KLDSAHJKHKJHSADKLJH
- Whether AT's information is helpful, that would depend on the reader. But,
if nobody cares to read them or comment on them, then it is a waste of time.
- I feel like unsubscribing like others have done but I still want to keep
in touch with other Campbells

CUZ AT !
I too am leaving this site. I like research sources that are helpful and
contain accurate information, not rambling and speculation. Should the time
ever come that the manager of this site stop ignoring and respond to the
countless number of complaints and take some action to either de-list you or
give you your own forum, I shall return. You have hijacked this wonderful
resource and claimed it as your own. I am a serious researcher and should
others seeking to locate my family lines ever be able to navigate the index
of your senseless and textual barriers, they indeed should be credited as
having endured your rants and cryptic messages. After several years of not
even attempting to read your messages and simply deleting them the moment
they arrive, I am going to de-list myself.....
Attention Mr. Site manager ! How about action here ! Enough is enough !!

I am also de listing. It will save me a lot of unnecessary aggravation.
List manager please let's get back to the days when we had the likes of Diarmid Campbell giving us info and help.

I am a serious researcher and should
others seeking to locate my family lines ever be able to navigate the index of
your senseless and textual barriers, they indeed should be credited as having
endured your rants and cryptic messages. After several years of not even
attempting to read your messages and simply deleting them the moment they
arrive, I am going to de-list myself.....
Attention Mr. Site manager ! How about action here ! Enough is enough !!

I assume you are directing all of your questions and insults toward me. Why you think that Granny Campbell was anything other than a normal causation is beyond me. There is nothing in our Campbell line that would indicate or reveal that we have mixed blood is beyond me. You have not put anything forward that would validate your conviction. Regards BJH
