My GGG-Grandfather was John Campbell late of Fayette County, IL. According to the 1840 Federal Census of Fayette County, IL, John Campbell was born between 50 and 60 years before the census. If true, John would have been born between 1780 and 1790. His birthplace is unknown, but it is believed he may have been born in Tennessee (possibly Knox County, TN).
John married a Jane (surname unknown, and it is believed the marriage took place in Tennessee. Known children were:
George W. Campbell (born circa 1815 Tennessee)
David Campbell (born circa1819 Tennessee) (my GG-Grandfather)
John V. Campbell (born circa 1825 Tennessee)
Josephus Campbell (born circa 1827 Tennessee)
Polly Campbell (born circa 1828 Tennessee)
Isabella Campbell (born circa 1830 Tennessee)
Elizabeth Campbell (born circa 1834 Tennessee)
Martha I. Campbell (born circa 1836 Tennessee)
It is believed that the John Campbell Family migrated from Tennessee to Fayette County, IL in the mid- to late 1830s. According to the book, “History Of Fayette County, Illinois”, Robert W. Ross and John J. Bullington, Munsell Publishing Company, Chicago, 1910, John Campbell was listed among the early settlers of Wheatland Township, Fayette County, IL. The book also indicated that the early settlers of Fayette County, IL were from Ohio and Tennessee.
Does anyone on the list recognize this family, or are perhaps related? I would like to fill in some gaps

I hope you get whoever this is straight. Tell them what I tell you and if
they want to contact me them feel free. I use ESQ on everything: Credit
Card, Bank account and all mail.
The ESQ = Esquire means Landed Gentry or land owener. It was extablished
in the United Kingdom. England and Scotland still grant this title to any
one who is a citizen or any USA Person who can trace their ancestory back to
pre 1776. Legal documentation of proof must be presented to the Lord LYON
of Scotland in Edinberg. He is appointed to this position by the Queen of
England. I was granted my personal Coat of Arms by the Lord Lyon and
authorized to use ESQ. after my name. My 1st born son may use ESQ. and will inherit
my Coat of Arms. Each Coat of Arms is diferent. No one can duplicate it.
My second born applied and received his personal Coat of Arms. It was like
mine with small changes show him as my 2nd son. We each have our own
personal family motto in Latin on the Coat of Arms. Mine is: Love Strengthen the
Family.

There is always a chance that some parents just don't know the "rules". I
have known and seen people with Junior listed on their birth certificate
as
a first or middle name. And once, about 15 years ago I ran across a guy
who's parents tacked on "Esq" instead of Jr or III ....I never researched
that but I am thinking that's usually an acquired title or something. Just
another thought.

VERY TRUE CUZ , NOW WE can just wonder about whay we have found> Giveing
More Credit to the personal Records over OFFICALy POSTED Records. <NAW>
well just picture the offical Record Saying JR for <SOME MEMBER OF THE Family,
The researcher thakein JR to mean the Child was Named after his PA, But in
reality he was Just Named after some other Member of A FAMILY: =DUH, some
one was located. I will be 86 in March, i grew up Being JR. My Father was
referred to AS Arthur: In time I have been referred to As; JR, Arthur,
JUNE, Bigun, A. Thomas Powell. Jr, AT, & Now as CUZ AT & PLUS Just a Foolish
old GEEZER. BUT in human Nameing; Sr fits only after the Fathers SUR NAME &
Jr only after the Surname of the Male Child that was named after HIS
Father, AND any other CUSTOM is only going to create Confusion.
LETS GET REAL. I refer to My Wife as LIL MAMA. When I was driveing a Truck
I would Come home ANY hour of the 24----- I had a Key to the frond door,
But some time, LIL MAM I would have to prck on LIL MAMA's Bedroom Window to
ger herb to Unlock the STORM DOOR would lock the Storm DOOR<___> I never
used LIL MMA when I knocked on the Window, Because IF a Some one intendind
Harm would be Hideing To learn how i Signaled Lil Mama, Could use the same
methoed When I Was GONE, to get into OUR HOME, I learned along time ago that
it is So much eaiser to KEEP Some one out that to GET THEM OUT.
AW we Have A Campbell Cousin in Amherst Court House, VA. who has only
<JUNIOR> for A name, His NICK Name is COWBOY, I haven't Met him for Years, I
remember when he was BORN, I went to School with his Siblings, HIS only Name
is JUNIOR Campbell. I used to work with A Mr. Shaver from EAST Tenn. JUST;
L. SHAVER, On his Drivers Liscence
L. SHAVER, MY Wife has A Widow Friend; Who was A CURTIS, Her drivers
Liscence is CURTIS_ Her Late Husbands SUR NAME>SPEAKING about Confusion???
