I have recently found that my 3 gt grandmother Seletha or Letha' last name was Campbell. This according to her daughter's death certificate, which I understand may or may not be correct. According to the cencus she was born in TN. about 1814. Married William Sullivan b 1813, KY., in TN about 1832. James Frankllin, my 2nd gt grandfather and John were born in TN, Several born in MO, then on to TX . William died about 1862 in TX, and Seletha about 1894 in TX. Supposedly buried in Mulberry Cem. in Henderson Co. but graves not found. I was told a lot of headstones were unreadable. Has anyone come across a Seletha Campbell in their research? I would be so gratefull for any help with both Seletha and William.
Mary in CA.

When you have time, would you look at the 1860 Pulaski Co AR census record? Find Isaac Hand and his family. The next entry after Isaac Hand is a household and see if you can decipher the handwriting as "unverified" or "unocupied" (with one c). I have talked to different people about this and one person thinks it is unverified and one thinks it is unocupied. The reason I am trying to figure this out is that my gr gr grandfather, Samuel P(ickens) Campbell (b 1832 AL) , was married in 1859 to Frances Ann Hand, dau of Isaac Hand and I have not found them on the AR census for 1860. I find them on the 1870 and 1880 census in Grant Co. Samuel P is my brick wall. He is on the 1850 Saline Co AR census with sisters and brother(s) which brings me to another question. If you can look at the 1850 Saline Co AR census and tell me if the head of household (James) is 36 or 56 years old. Again, I have differing opinions on the age. I think
his age is 36, but one researcher in MS says that his age is 56 and she continues that the 1860 Jefferson Co census is the same James and he is the father of the children on the 1850 census.
You are probably swamped with lookups and I hope I haven't "worn out my welcome" by asking you so much. Any information you can provide would be helpful. I have been searching for this Campbell line for several years and scouring the Alabama records for any information. Seems like these Campbells just popped up out of nowhere ! !
Thank you.
Kay

Hi, Betty and Campbell group members!
My name is Dena Walrod-LaBrecque. I am a direct descendant of the Campbell surname thru the Taylor/Campbell/Basket line.
I would love any free census "look-up" information that you would be willing to provide to me.
My info:
Col. Leeroy Taylor b. July 25, 1758 either in Pr. Wm. Co., Va or Wicocomico Parish, Northumberland, VA. m. Susan Sherrill.
They had a daughter named Sarah "Sally" Taylor b. 1770 Rowan County, NC or Washington Co. TN. m. John Campbell b. May 31, 1765 in VA.
They had a son Leeroy Campbell b. Wash. Co., TN. m. Ann Shields. They had a daughter, Lovisa Jane Campbell b. Aug 23, 1835 Wash Co, TN. (In the 1850 TN census, Leeroy was referred to as Laray Campbell, Wash. Co. Subdivision 4. A possible Mulatto?
Lovisa Jane Campbell m. Barton Sevier Basket b. Nov. 15, 1833 Wash. Co. Tn. (At some point this family all removed to Iowa then to Kansas). On census records for Lovisa she may be referred to as Louis a boy or simply called, Louisa.
They had a son, my great grandfather, named John W. Baskett who married my great grandmother, Sarah Slocum. They had my grandfather, Homer Baskett. They all resided in Kansas.
Barton S. Basket's parents were also from Washington Co., TN. They were Richard Basket and Rachel Hartman. Richard Basket's father was John Basket from Washington Co., TN. He married Mary Middleton. Rachel Hartman's parents were Henry Hartman and Polly Brown.
I am Trying to find the Native American heritage in this family. I am in belief that it is coming from the Taylor/Campbell lines.
If anyone has any information, it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

I'm a free member, and I believe all you can do is view the census, you
can't save it to your computer without a fee.
Once you try to save it, another window will pop up asking for a fee.

You have to go to the main page and then click where it says 1930 census
free.
If you don't it wants to charge you. I found that earlier when I went there.
You have to sign up as a free member to search, but some things are free,
but if you want to print or download anything you have to be a paid member.

I know Jackson Co., which is the Co. next to Josephine, has their
cemeteries and genealogical society online, with lots of databases,
so try googling Josephine genealogical society or Josephine Co.
tombstones and the like. don't forget to add Oregon into the search
parameters or you'll get a lot of unwanted hits.
I checked online phone books and found 2 Campbells in Merlin and 3
Campbells in Wolf Creek, possible relations. the ones on Ancestry
only go to 2002, try googling for online phone books for more current
phone listings.
no relationship to them that I am aware of, leaning more heavily
towards the early Brownville, Jefferson, NY Campbells, though the
Duncan Campbell in Houns....forgot the name at the moment, the next
township over from Brownville, has not been negated yet.
Cornelia
in Jackson Co., OR, next Co. over from Josephine Co.-but not close
