Vicki,
Love the post. We have all those elements going in a Tennessee mystery
that has just been put with the Iredell Co Campbells via DNA. Hamblin Co
TN is the resting place for several of the players. I have a Robert
Howard Campbell that married a Julia Frances Couch , they were born in
1850's after Campbell family moved to Tennessee from Iredell. The
Boones (Daniels parents) are buried ten miles from where I think the
Campbell family lived. Nothing connected to Patrick as our line is the
Aeneas of unknown origins. Any of this seem familiar??
Keep up the great work!!

Hi Jean
Started to look for your grandfather, but need some information.
Need to know where he was born, what was his birth year, who he married,
and if you can give me an "about death date". I put in 1921, but nothing came up with his name on it..
Also, if you can give me his parents names that would help too.

There is no match to Patrick Campbell, Grissel Hay, Delilah Thompson or
Elizabeth Taylor as has been reported in the past.
Vic
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Vicki, That may be true in the Campbell DNA studies. Elizabeth James as a
wife of Patrick Campbell Jr., did not produce any children by a Campbell.
In fact Patrick Jr. Divorced her, and went his own way. I am told by other
researchers that evidence of this marriage and divorce existed in Orange Co.
Therefore, COUCH marriage later of Elizabeth James as John Couch 2nd wife,
produced the Perry Co., KY bloodlines. CAMPBELL descents married into
many Kentucky families thereafter. John Couch 1st wife Mary (Polly) Boone 1746
- 1783 produced the bloodlines in the LEWIS lineage.
"The COUCH families of old John Couch
The James - Campbell lineage:
In the 16th century lived Mr. Isaac Taylor who fathered a daughter
"Lettice Taylor", who married William James. Their one daughter born about 1755
"Elizabeth James" in Colonial Virginia, grew up to marry an Irishman Patrick
Campbell Jr. of Pennsylvania birth, a son of Sr. (s/o) Patrick Campbell
Sr. (b.1696 PA- d.1777 PA) & Delilah Thompson (b.1700) Dublin, Ireland.
Patrick Campbell, Sr. was s/o emigrant Mr. John Campbell (b.1678-Dublin--
d.1734 PA) & Grace Hay (b.1674 Dublin, Ireland, she died in PA). John was
s/o Duncan Campbell (b. 1652) in Dublin - (d. 1727 in Dublin, Ireland) &
Mary McCoy (Ireland). Duncan was s/o John Campbell Ist wife, Mary Rich, both
of Dublin, Ireland in the 16th century.
A marriage license exists, of Elizabeth James and John Couch, dated Dec.
1783 and a copy of this marriage is retained by descendant of IRA Couch, s/o
Martin Couch"

Vicki, That is correct. There are no known children of "Elizabeth James" by any man, EXCEPT John Couch.
The CAMPBELL ancestry only married into COUCH descents, and many others of Kentucky.
The CAMPBELL men married into JOHN COUCH children of ELIZABETH JAMES.

First you have made assumptions in error of the JOHN COUCH of PA and KY
buried in Hazard, Perry County, KY.
John Couch married 3 women and no more. First Mary (Polly) Boone
Second after her death, married Elizabeth James who was divorced by Patrick
Campbell JR after a very short marriage.
Third after death of Elizabeth James, John married Widow Mary Patterson,
and yes her data is recorded in Richmond, Virginia.
Mary Patterson has no children by JOHN COUCH - both were in old age and
JOHN being so obese in physical size was never able to remarry a fourth time
before he died in 1830 / 1833 era.
Hope that helps clear up the Mary Patterson marriages and her children.

Franklin C. Campbell was born in Rock Creek, Ohio in 1854. He became a dentist and practiced in Pendleton, Oregon. He was also a prolific writer and was writing a history of Utah when he fell from his horse and lived with the miners while recuperating. That was in 1921. Nothing known of his location or death since that time. He is my brick wall. Any and all info is very welcome. I would like to put him to rest as he is my grandfather. jeanbnch(a)pacbell.net
Searching for descendents of Daniel Campbell who went to Washoe County NV 1877-1880's from Hamilton County,IL. He had brothers named John,Patrick,James, and Felix. Daniel was from Mullaghbrack Parish County Armagh Northern Ireland. Possibly lived in Loughilly in Armagh also prior to coming to the U.S. in 1848-1855 era.
Have been told he was an animal judge for years at the Washoe County Fair, and specialized in Sheep judging.
Daniel's father was John Campbell a Royal Army veteran of 21 years in the Dragoons and his grandfather was Charles Campbell a loom weaver and he lived to either 104 or 107 depending on the source. It was also told through the source Charles' family originally came from Argyllshire,Scotland.
Would love any info anyone has or would love to contact any of Daniel's descendents.

Folks, I recently joined this list in order to find information on the
Campbell family of whom my 4th great grandfather's son (13th of 15 children)
and executor to his will married Emeline Campbell in Columbia County, New
York. In a telephone visit with the last surviving member of the King
family I found that I already had what I thought that I needed in the family
bible of Luther Hiram and Emelone (Campbell) King of Columbia County, New
York. If anyone thinks that they may be connected to the Columbia County,
New York Campbell family I will be happy to share the contents of their 1857
bible that has been up dated to 1965 with the complete family including 3
children born 1830 to 1833. Marriages and deaths it also includes that
family noted as Father's family in a special page of entirely Campbell
people back to the Revolutionary War. I have made a file of the contents
therefore anyone wishing to examine these entries please sent my your
private email as I believe that Rootsweb.com will not allow attachments.

There was divorce in England in the 1700s, so there probably was divorce in
the Colonies. The index of the 18th Century, "Virginia Gazette," in

Hello Michael,
After an inquiry at the Clan Campbell Society I received a snail-mail letter
in 2000 from a Douglas A. Campbell in Oakton, VA, who wrote: "While I cannot
help you in your quest to find the parents of Thomas Campbell, I wonder if
they were related to James Campbell who was born in 1690 in Londonderry,
Ireland, immigrated through Boston in 1728 where he stayed until 1735 when
he moved to Londonderry, NH. He subsequently moved to Cherry Valley, NY
where he died in 1780." Unfortunately I was lax in answering and by the
time I did he had moved so I lost track of him.
Apparently his ancestor is your distant great uncle James. It's interesting
that James moved to Londonderry, NH, ín 1735, the same year that my
ancestor, Thomas Campbell, moved there. Since families tended to move
together it's very possible that they were related. Unfortunately I don't
know the names of any of my Thomas' siblings and parents. I'll write to
Ruby Campbell (I owe her a letter anyway) and try to find out who was tested
for DNA to see if it's close to mine. I'll also check with Kevin Campbell,
manager of the Campbell DNA project.
No, I had not heard of William, but as I said, I don't know anything about
the ancestors of Thomas.
Regards, George Campbell

My greatgrandmother formally divorced my greatgrandfather near 1900. She
recieved
everything they owned ! This was on the TN~NC line deep in the mountains
also.
Had another greatgrandfather that had a second family the other side of the
mountain, but
the minister and church members told my greatgrandmother to not divorce him.
This was in
the 1800s (same place).

Folks I am researching for the parents and siblings of Emeline Campbell.
She was born in Columbia County, New York near New Lebanon and Canaan in the
Lebanon Springs Valley. It seems that the date of birth for Emeline is in
1809 (I have the birth date). She married Luther Hiram King in December
1829 and presented him with a son John F. King in August 1830. I recently
found that the name of her son is the same as that of her younger brother
John F. Campbell born 1811. I would like any help possible. Luther Hiram
King born 1806 in Columbia County, NY is the son of Amos and (Miss Basset)
King who is the second spouse. She is the mother of 9 children 7 of whom
reached maturity according to the records of the youngest son and brother of
Luther Hiram King who farmed in Johnson County, Nebraska on Todd Creek.
Until only recently we did not know of the second marriage
Thanks for the help
Daniel
