What does this mean?
I also request this if it is possible. To scroll down to the message
is time consuming. My eye sight is not that great right now and after
a few emails things become blurry, so saving time is important. If the
body of the message appears first then I can see if it is a Campbell
that I am working on. I don't want to start any negative emails, this
is just a request if it can be done. Mary Ellen Campbell Mathers.

Please reverse the header and the list of postings. I receive over a
hundred emails a day and it is most time-consuming to scroll down. If this cannot
be done (although most other lists have done so), I will probably unsubscribe.

There seem to be many CAMPBELLs in Bloom / Cook County from that period, although I have not been able to trace all the relations between them. My ggg-gf was William James Campbell (b 1850 Philadelphia, PA - d 1896 Riverside, IL), son of John & Mary Campbell from Ireland. William J and his wife Rebecca (McEldowney) had 5 children - Mary E, William J (Jr), Herbert J, Allan W, Edward C. I have not been able to discover the correct John & Mary and when they migrated from Ireland to US. WJ (Jr) married Rena Lawrence and had 3 children - Lawrence, Jean and Ruth. Allan W had 2 daughters - Marian & Justine. Mary married Louis Sherman Taylor and had 2 children - Helen and William. According to my records, Herbert and Edward did not have children.
Many of the Campbells used the same first names, so research can be difficult. Good luck...

We must be related to the same Campbell family. My 2nd-great grandmother was Mary Polly Campbell Chadwell, a dau. of James Campbell and Martha Nevils. James was a son of George Campbell and Elizabeth Dobkins of Claiborne Co., TN.
Barnett Campbell and James were brothers.
John Campbell's wife Mary Ann Chadwell was a relative of Samuel Blaine Chadwell, who married Mary Polly Campbell.
Oliver Dotson Campbell's wife, Eliza Adaline Brown, was a sister to my 2nd-great grandmother Mary Jane Brown Nevels. Mary Jane was the wife of Rev. Bishop Nevels. Bishop was a son of George Washington Nevils, nephew of Martha Nevils Campbell, and nephew of Cornelia Nevils Brooks.
Tillman's wife, Mossie Brooks, was a dau. of William Floyd Brooks and Cornelia Nevils.
Mossie Brooks' younger sister Media was the wife of Walter Patterson Nevils. Walter P. was a grandson of George Washington Nevils and his second wife.
Have you learned anything about the parents of George Campbell? I have his father as James Campbell b. 1745, but I have no proof.

I see this everywhere that Susanna Leake was married to James Campbell and they are the parents of Richard Campbell 1755, James Campbell Jr and William Campbell 1775. What proof is there out there that Susanna was married to James Campbell? Has anyone seen any proof of this fact? I have a copy of Richard Leake's will dated 1784 and have read it several times over and if this is where this information has come from...I am not so sure of it being the fact.
Richard Leake mentions his daughters and he mentions grandsons or the children of daughter. There are two people that he does not mention a relationship to...one John Moore and the other Richard Campble. He has included grandchildren from daughters Elizabeth and Mary. He does not mention grandchildren from Susanna Campble nor Jane Harley. If Susanna were married to James Campbell, why are her other boys not mentioned in some manner?
I would be more inclined to say that Susanna is Richard Campbell's first wife Susanna, the mother of Mary who would have been just a year old when this will was written and James Campbell born a year later. These children and his first wife Susanna are mentioned in Richard's Rev. War pension papers.
I am not trying to be a nay sayer, just want some proof that Susanna Leake was not Richard's wife Susanna.
Are there any records saying she was the wife of James Campbell?
