I'll scratch your back, you scratch mine. I'm currently on a mission to
take all George CAMPBELL's born between 1861 and 1869 in Illinois or
Indiana ( I will most likely expand this to all states) to disqualify
any as mine!! My George was supposedly born in Indiana or Illinois
1864- the census information he is listed in disagree. I don't even
know for certain the date is correct, but he was still alive in 1900 and
his death cert agrees he was born in Apr 1864. I'm starting with 1870
and attemping to 'match' up subsequent census entries with those found
adding any additional information from you wonderful people as far as
marriage and death records. I'm trying to find my George's parents.
Only real information I have is birth Apr 1964, m. in Clark county
Indiana to Lillian Brooks. He may have been married before Lillian. He
died in 1904 when son Edward was just 5 years old. If anyone is
interested in the end product, or has anything to help me out, please
e-mail me direct at rronan(a)sc.rr.com.
Anyone have lineage in Midland, Maryland area or just Midland area in General--my branch moved to Pennsylvania in early 1920s. My GGrandfather was James Campbell and I am trying to find out his parents names.
Thanks for any help provided.

HAS ANYONE SEEN A AGNES CAMPBELL M.S. KELLY DEATH
Hello Listers,
Has anyone seen a Agnes Campbell M.S. Kelly
Death between 1856 and 1870 in Dumbarton or anywhere in Scotland please.
I have been on the Scotlandspeople Gov Site about 6 times now.
I have been looked twice and paid and downloaded two different death certificates for
Agnes Campbell but none of them were the correct Agnes.
So please help me to locate the correct death year or date for her death?
Agnes was born abt 1802 in Kirkcolm, Wigtown, Scotland
her parents were Gilbert Kelly and Jane Nielson.
Agnes Campbell M.S. Kelly was the wife of Alexander Campbell Shoemaker.
Thank you in advance for any information I might receive.
Kind Regards
Pamela J Groves

Hi Laura,
Thanks for your reply. I was so hoping you had learned something new on
the Campbell's. Like I said before, I am totally at a brick wall here.
We will just have to all just have to keep looking. I am sure we are
bound to find more clues to the puzzle.
Thanks again,
Zelda
Hi Zelda,
Wish I could help you...as I said...I was hot and tired and apparently my
genealogy bug was sleeping...later I kicked myself for not at least picking up
some of the envelopes or questioning the people selling the "stuff". So I know
nothing more than what I posted. Sorry.
Laura
Laura,
I am interested in the papers that you came across. My line is from
Madison County Alabama, and they went to Huntland, TN.
My grandfather is Albert C. Campbell, born in Madison County, AL around
1873. He married Mary Cassie Norris on Oct. 3, 1900.
Maybe someone can help me over this brick wall.
Thanks,
Zelda

Larry and list,
The Campbells have an active DNA surname project. I am the Group
Administrator for this project. While our web site is a little out of date, the project
is active and we're jugging along.
Our web site is:
http://www.waltier.com/dna.htm
There is also a link to this site from the newly redesigned CCSNA home page:
http://www.ccsna.org/
Those interested in DNA testing should surf around the FTDNA web site. FTDNA
is the largest testing organization and "de facto standard" for DNA testing.
We have also had two articles in the CCSNA Journal including an article in
the Summer 2004 issue that speculates on the DNA signature of Sir Colin
"Iongantach" Campbell, of Lochawe. Speculating on the DNA of an ancestor who lived
600 years ago gets a little out there, but nonetheless is pretty cool.
- Kevin
Well, it might be Ernest C. Campbell. Recently I was on "The World's Longest
Yard Sale" trail, just barely north of Chattanooga, TN, and came across a
bunch of stuff (junk) someone had picked up at an Estate Sale. Amongst the junk
was a bunch of mail and papers with the name Earnest C. Campbell. I went thru
some of it and never found anything that further identified the person. It
was hot, I was very tired, the people who had it knew nothing and I didn't even
think to pay attention to the address on the envelopes or beg, borrow, buy or
steal one, so I went on. The reason I was interested in the first place is
that my great-grandmother's name is Earnest Virginia McMath. Her mother was
Julia Campbell. There had to be some reason why a mother would name her
daughter a man's name and one could be she was named after her mother's brother,
father, etc. Obviously this Earnest Campbell was of a recent generation, but they
may have same ancestry. Anyone know anything about any Tennessee Campbells
that might have migrated down to Georgia? Julia ultimately ended up in Alabama
where we all are.
Thanks,
Laura
Would any one know who this Alexander Campbell from Bloomington, Monroe
County Indiana may have been?
Bloomington (Indiana) Republican Progress, Oct 8, 1884, p. 3.
Died, August 12, 1844, near Jeffersonville City, Montana, Alexander
Campbell, aged 34. He was brought up near Bloomington, Indiana. His father
lives at Mt. Ayr, Iowa. He was engaged in mining and was seriously injured
by the falling of a boulder and died in a few days of suffering. Although
among strangers, he was tenderly cared for and the incident carefully
reported to the bereaved parents.
Thank You,
Donna Conley
Larry, please get in touch with Kevin Campbell (kevincamp(a)aol.com) who is
administrator of the Campbell DNA project.
