Hello List,
Can someone tell me if it is possible for two Alexander Campbell's married
to two Agnes Kelly's please? Why I have asked this is because My 2x Great
Grandfather Andrew Campbell born in Kirkcolm,
Wigtown in 1837 his parents were Alexander Campbell and Agnes Kelly.
In the 1851 Census they were at London Rd, McCulloch Place, Stranraer
Wigtown, Scotland.
My Question is did they have more children born after 1851 in Dunbarton,
Scotland?
Because I have seen Alexander and Agnes Campbell on the IGI with some of
their siblings born in Dunbarton, Scotland. Is it possible they are the same
couple now living in Dunbarton.
Were Alexander Campbell and Agnes Kelly Married and Where?

Kevin,
Have you looked at the 1850 census records? I looked some and found in
Westmoreland, Sewickley Township. .
. James Campbell 29, shoemaker b Penn
. Caroline " 24, B Penn
. John S 4
. Mary E 2
In Westmoreland, North Huntingdon township is. .
. James 54 - Labor? - all born in PA
. Elizabeth 54
. William 22 - Farmer
. Robert 19 - Boatman
I did not look further, but there were over 200 Campbells in Westmoreland Co
in 1850, so it might take you some time. I would also look in miliary
records for James Moorhead. I have Moorheads that married into my family
but they spell theirs with an e - Moorehead, so you might check that
spelling.
Also, call the library in the county and they can get you in touch with
genealogy people there.

Subject: [CAMPBELL] Andrew Campbell of Derry Twp., Westmoreland Co.
The following transcription shows an Andrew Campbell in the New Alexandria
Cemetery in Derry Township, Westmoreland County Pennsylvania. Does anyone
know
anything about this individual - ancestry? wife's maiden name? children?
http://www.pa-roots.com/~westmoreland/townships/derry/newalexandria.html
CAMPBELL, Andrew, 8/21/1837, [68] years
CAMPBELL, Elizabeth, 1795-1878 "Wife of Andrew"
CAMPBELL, James, 10/17/182[1]-11/8/1855
CAMPBELL, Sarah, 3/2/1816-9/8/1851 "Faithful & affectionate w/o William S.,
d/o Maj. James Moorhead"
CAMPBELL, William S., [unreadable]
I'm theorizing that he might either be (1) the son of Andrew Campbell
(c1739)
and Esther Jane Gettys of Fannett. Twp. Franklin Co. PA. This Andrew would
have been born about the right time c1767 to be the person in the cemetery.
Alternatively, the above Andrew could have been (2) the son of William
Campbell
(c1735) and Hannah Young also of Fannett Twp. The latter Andrew supposedly
left Franklin County for Huntington County, PA.
As a side note -- Andrew (c1739) and William (c1735) were brothers.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello List,
Have someone researching the Campbell surname seen perhaps a 1851 Census with a Alexander Campbell born between 1897 - 1800 in Scotland Shoe Maker
His wife Agnes Campbell nee Kelly born between 1897 - 1802
Their Children were
Jean Campbell christened July 1821 Kirkcolm, Wigtown, Scotland
Alexander Campbell christened October 1824 Kirkcolm, Wigtown, Scotland must have died
Janet Campbell christened July 1826 Kirkcolm, Wigtown, Scotland
Mary Ann Campbell christened November 1832 Kirkcolm, Wigtown, Scotland
Alexander Campbell christened December 1834 Kirkcolm, Wigtown, Scotland
Andrew Campbell christened February 1837 Kirkcolm, Wigtown, Scotland
William Campbell christened March 1839 Kirkcolm, Wigtown, Scotland
Gilbert Campbell christened March 1839 Kirkcolm, Wigtown, Scotland
Isabella Campbell christened August 1841 Kirkcolm, Wigtown, Scotland
I have come to a brickwall with my Campbell family and need help to go back further, so I will be able to send for a Birth certificate for my Andrew Campbell I need to find out if this Alexander Campbell's Occupation was a Shoe or Boot Maker please?
Although now I know for sure my Gggrandfather Andrew Campbell's father was Alexander Campbell a Shoe Maker in November 1857 in Hartlepool, Durham when Andrew Campbell married Elizabeth Fergus, and know Andrew and Elizabeth were both born in Scotland from the 1871 Census and later Censuses.
Thank you in advance for any information I might receive.
Kind Regards
Pamela J Groves

Hi Suzanne,
I don't have any information for you, unless you don't know which cemetery
your William Campbell is in.
While searching for any clues to my William Campbell, b, 1850 IL., I stopped
at the Court House in Burlington KY., they sent me to a Cemetery real close
to the center of town it was a very old one, there is a William Campbell
buried there, and I think the dates are very close to yours.
Hope this helps!
Thanks, Katie
