Re: [CAMPBELL] Inveraray Cross

Aye, Diarmid! It is good to hear from you too!
Sorry to hear that the dollar is down versus the pound. At the last time I
looked a few days ago it was $1.86 to the pound! One might as well tear
their dollars in half! When we were in the UK last the exchange rate was
like $1.40 and the Euro was .94 to the dollar. Not too bad. Of course, a
weak dollar is good for our exports, but terrible for imports!
Again, thanks so much for the info on the Inveraray Cross! Celtic High
Crosses is one of my interests. Catherine & I have been talking of one day
touring the UK & Ireland specifically to see the High Crosses.
My mother recently gave me the 1925 sterling silver replica of the Inveraray
Cross as a memento of my being made a Lay Eucharistic Minister in the
Episcopal Church. It had been given to her by a local antiques dealer.
Neither of us had a clue it was a copy of the Inveraray Cross. All we knew
was it was Scottish. Then I saw a recent issue of the Clan Campbell Journal
which had a photo if the Inveraray Cross and bingo! Finding detailed
information on it has been difficult.
Cheers!
Tom
