My John W. Campbell, born May 1830, relocated from the High Point, NC, area, some time before 1850, as he is included in the 1850 Colleton County, SC, census. A brother, William, also is reputed to have accompanied him.

I have William Lee Campbell, who was born 1843 in Randolph Co, NC and
came to the Edgefield Co SC area just before the Civil War, where supposedly
he had a family connection. According to the family story, the reason that
he came was after an argument with his father because he wanted to fight in
the Civil War and his father disapproved because of his age. Wm Lee married
Bethany Friday, who was from the Edgefield County SC general area, and she
died in Appling Co, GA in 1880. He moved on to southwest Georgia, where he
died in 1921. My mother, Sara Campbell Glausier, was Wm. Lee and Bethany's
grandaughter. Sara just died at age 93 on 12/15/03, but several of her half
first cousins (by Wm. Lee's second wife) still live in the
Dougherty/Mitchell County area.
I would very much like to find his family connection in SC.

Do you know if any migrated to Georgia and/or Alabama? I'm trying to
backtrack my great-grandmother, Julia Campbell who married Zedekiah McMath in
Georgia, then ended up in Alabama.

Has anyone on the list run across an Andrew J. Campbell b March 1, 1810 in
Connecticut. If you have found any Campbell's in Connecticut please let me
know, as that is all I know about him. His spouse was Mary E. Freeman b
August 23, 1814 in Cortland Co. N.Y. that is all I have on her, They
married in 1837, Lived and died in Rock Creek, Ashtabula Co.,Ohio. in 1910.
Any info will be appreciated. Jean Bunch
Martha,
My SC Campbell is Christopher Columbus Campbell b. 1808 in Sumpter District
(now Lee Co.) SC; d. July 5, 1866 in Browns Wells, MS; m. Louisa Elizabeth
Bowen 1830. Moved to Franklin Co., MS about 1850.
Only child Columbus Washington Campbell b. October 28, 1838; d. April 17,
1918 in Meridian, MS; m. Mary Elizabeth Compton Nov. 3, 1859
In 1836 or 37 an autopsy was done on a Christopher Columbus Creed Campbell.
He might be the father of my gggrandfather but I cannot pin this down.
Louisa Bowen is the daughter of William Bowen, partner of Dr. Jacques Bishop
for whom Bishopville, SC was named.

Do you know if any of the Campbells you have that might have migrated to
GA. My g.great grandfather was Robert B.Campbell of Hall county, Ga.
The 1910 census of Madison County, Ga (his youngest son's census)says he
was born in Ireland. His oldest son was John; which if naming patterns are
correct; that would be Robert's father. Robert's birth would be about 1790.
We have searched and searched but no can find where he was before Hall
County, GA
.
Robert's children were:John, Samuel, Robert, Martha, Nancy, Roseanna,
Elizabeth, and William Jasper.
Any help would be appreciated.

I just finished redoing THE CAMPBELL'S ARE HERE by Mary Ellen Campbell
Tesreau (private publ. 1970)55 pages.
My version was a copy of a copy, so photos were real bad. I borrowed Aunt
Rachel Campbell Franklin's original copy and scanned as many photos from it
as I could, retyped all pages (only corrections were some spelling & grammar
out of habit). The data in the book is not exacting, but is a good starting
point & the photos are nice for those of us who are related to Ellis &
Elizabeth Young Campbell.
Ellis b 1804 in VA (per census, family)
Elizabeth Young b abt 1814 in TN/AL depending on the record.
They had first three children in Jackson co AL (Matthew b 1833, James
Mehlander b 1835 & Ambrose/Andrew b 1836)
The rest of the children were born in Missouri.
There is a little on the Jasper Newton Mayberry family, Micha/Michael
Spitzmiller family & some on the Suttons, but not much.
If you are related to this line, and are interested, contact me.

I am seeking a CAMPBELL family. Possibly parents names were as follows.
John Campbell married to Ann (MacLeod),1885
@MIDDLE RIVER,VITORIA Co.,N.S.,Canada
Could have lived in Cape North,N.S.,Canada. Ann was from Margaree
Valley,N.S.,Canada.
Believed to have had at least one son, born about 1910. It seems they
could have moved to USA. Most likely western locality. The son could have
had a speech impediment. There was one outstanding eye. Eyes were blue with
one having a 2mm. brown spot.It was very noticeable.Just trying to find out
if any Campbell family or connections know of such person. There were a
number of extenuating circumstances concerning this boy. It is commonly
believed he would know very little about his backgroud or any relatives.
Also, maybe my research and resources are way of base. But it was not
uncommon for families to lose touch with other family members. If there is
anyone out there who can help
me I can be reached at gemash(a)msn.com

Here's the entry:
Campbell, Duncan. To Halifax Co., NS before 1850. Wife Catherine with him.
Son Alexander b. 1852. MD, Professor of Medicine at Dalhouse Coll.
If he's not the right one, I've got several pages of Duncan Campbells to
look through (from Volume 2 as well).
