I am searching ywo 2 different Campbell families in the Amhesrt & Campbell Co Va area.
1- Alphonso Lee Campbell born about 1829 in Nelson Co, married Sarah (Sallie) Jane Watts in 1857 Amherst Co Va. Children include Hope, Mary F, Ella, Sarah E, Vina, Alvindir, Emma, James, Mattie & William Edward Campbell born in Nelson Co.
Desperately need to get past this brick wall.
2- Missouri Ann Campbell born 1841/42 Nelson CO , possibly White Rock Baptist area. MArried John F Lawhorne Jan 1860 in Nelson Co. Missouri is the daughter of Willis Campbell & Hannah Painter, Nelson Co.
It is rumored that Missouri & one of her sisters were of Monacan Indian descent. I need to prove this true/false, and find more info about her, her parents and any of her siblings.
Thanks!

Greetings Everyone,
I'm new to this List and am trying to trace my Campbell family background.
Dugald Campbell and Isobel McKellar married in Argyllshire, Scotland about 1824. Dugald was at this time a schoolteacher.
However they later apparently moved to Glasgow and there Dugald is recorded as a labourer.
Their known children are Ronald, born 1831 in Argyllshire and Archibald born 1835 in either Argyllshire or in Glasgow. Both these sons migrated to Victoria, Australia, Ronald in 1849. It is believed there was a sister Margaret who also migrated to Victoria.
This is possibly a birth record for Isobel:
Isobell MCKELLAR christened 25 Sep 1805 at North Knapdale, Argyll, Scotland : Father: Duncan MCKELLAR Mother: Mary MCKELLAR
and Dugald:
Dugald CAMPBELL Birth: 4 Jun 1801 Kilcalmonell And Kilberry, Argyll, Scotland Father: Duncan CAMPBELL
Any connections or other information would be much appreciated.
Mary

Dorothy;
You can also access SSDI below. It is the most up to date SSDI on net.
Also may have names that are not on some other SSDI's on net.
They are not all alike.
Can also access WCFT ( World Connect family trees which also is like
Ances. Com but also has prob more names etc and different ones than Ances.
Com.
go to
www.rootsweb.com
then check the list on left side by scrolling down and watching for Social
Security Death Index and picking it.
Also can scroll down a short way to
WorldConnect family trees
Pick it and when form comes up put in your name and will go to a list of
that surname with first names if a first name you picked shows.
If not then pick another name connected or another first name.
Works like Ancest com
