I am looking for the John Campbell Sr. b. 1938, who is descended from Thomas
Jefferson Campbell, of Giles County, Tennessee. John was a Judge in Texas
somewhere around Fort Worth. I have some information that he furnished to
the current residents of the Campbell Home Place in Prospect, Tennessee, and
I would like to locate him.
Any clue would be greatly appreciated.

Of all my genealogical serachings, it is a Campbell that is the central
figure - and the biggest stone wall!
ROBERT Campbell, born 1787/8 in Scotland (somewhere!) dies 1861 in Lowther
Westmorland, England, a stonemason who worked on Lowther Castle.
Does ANYONE have any little clues as to wherabouts in Scotland he might have
come from? There is a family legend which has emerged all over the world -
twice in Australia - of strong ties to the Argylls.
Any info gratefully received.

It saddens me to send an email with terrible news. Ruth passed away last
night, she had had a stroke a couple of weeks ago and did not recover.
Sully, is doing pretty good considering...please put him in your prayers.
Sincerely,
A Very close friend

Subject: Daniel Campbell bef 1850 Waupaca WI
I am researching Rev Daniel Campbell b abt 1820 unknown place of
birth. His daughter (my g grandmother) Isabella Valucia Campbell was b 1850 in Waupaca, Waupaca Co WI. Daniel m Electra Lucetta Sape(?) from Delaware OH. I do not know if Isabella had siblings.
Isabella m Josiah Blackman Blakely Sept 1874 and they sailed for China where they were missionaries for 5 years. Their three children were born in China. Isabella was a remarkable woman and I would love to know more about her and about her heritage. A request for her birth certificate was unsuccessful.
This information from Isabella's death certificate, son Albert's marriage certificate, and Josiah's obituary. They came back from China 1879 and settled near/in Neenah WI, moving to Bayfield in 1922.
I do not know if they are Irish Campbells or Scottish Campbells.
Hoping to hear from someone.

MY GRANDFATHER WAS HUGH EDGAR CAMPBELL. HE LIVED IN CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY. I
KNOW THAT HE HAD AT LEAST ONE BROTHER LIVING IN ANOTHER STATE. HUGH HAD
TWO SONS, HERSHEL EDGAR AND THOMAS. HE ALSO HAD A DAUGHTER NAMED DELITHA.
I DO NOT KNOW WHERE HUGH CAME FROM, BUT FOR SOME REASON I DO NOT BELIEVE
HE CAME FROM KENTUCKY. ALL OF HUGH''S KIDS ARE DEAD NOW.
JAMES P. CAMPBELL was born about 1844. He married Frances Reed Atkinson,
after her first husband John G. Atkinson died in the Civil War. They had at
least two children: ANDREW born in 1868 and CHANCE born in 1870. I have
found the grave of Frances in the Reed family cemetery in Prospect, TN, but I
do not have any further information on James P. Andrew or Chance.
I am descended from Frances' first husband, but would like to find more
information on her second. I have three Campbell families in the Prospect
area that so far I have not been able to connect.-- Hugh Campbell, Joab
Campbell, and James P. Campbell.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

She was married to James Alexander Cameron. They had a daughter Julia Ann
Cameron 1868-1946. Julia married Billy Gibson and they lived in Shelby
County, AL but I don't know where Francis Lee Campbell or her husband J. A.
Cameron lived.
I would like to know where she was born, DOB, DOD, parents names, siblings,
children,, where she lived, etc.
If anyone can help me I would certainly appreciate it.
Thank you,
Leigh Downs
Joab Campbell was in Giles County, near Prospect, Tennessee. Joab married
Susan Caldwell and had five children: Mary Jane, W. L., Martha, Adeline and
Elzira.
Joab's daughter Mary Jane Campbell married Thomas Jefferson Campbell
November, 1844. Thomas Jefferson is the son of Hugh and Mary Jane Campbell,
and I do not know if the two Campbells are related.
Does anyone have any information on Joab Campbell or his wife Susan Caldwell.
Another brick wall
I have just 'subscribed' , and I am in hopes that some of you know who and
where Hugh Campbell came from. He was in Middle Tennessee 1807-1810 on the
Elk River near Pulaski. TN.
Hugh married Elizabeth Phillips and had five children; James Boone, Thomas
Hugh, John Polk, unknown son, and Gustin Turner.
Around 1821, he married Mary Jane Snipes, daughter of John and Nancy, and
they had four children; Thomas Jefferson, Mary Josephine, unknown girl, and
Sarah A.
Hugh (1782-1873) Mary Jane (1785-1864), are buried in the Hugh Campbell
Cemetery at Prospect. TN.
Please let me hear from you if you have any information on this family. I am
particularly looking for information on Hugh and Mary Jane's siblings and
parents. I have definitely hit the 'brick wall'.
Thank you,
Evelyn Bradbury
I'm looking for information on Campbells in Hertford, England in the

Haileybury School.
Thanks, Susan

Fran; I don't know anything about any circus but Campbell Bros. Circus. But look up CIRCUS-FOLKS. on the internet and someone there might be able to help. Cathy
We've come across some new information (unverified) on my gg-grandfather.
Before we thought the name was JAMES ANDREW CAMPBELL, but now have found a
relative who swears it was ANDREW JACKSON CAMPBELL. Dates are 9 NOV 1847 - 9
OCT 1929. He was married to SARAH ROGERS.
This family is on the 1880 Marion County census:
CAMPBELL A J W M 34 M FARM LABOR
CAMPBELL SARAH W F 36 WF M
CAMPBELL FRANCIS W F 14 D S
CAMPBELL WILSON W M 12 S S
CAMPBELL JOHN W M 10 S S
CAMPBELL CELIA W F 8 D S
CAMPBELL MISSOURI W F 5 D S
CAMPBELL GEORGE W M 3 S S
CAMPBELL WEA--? W F 0 D S 8/12 OCT
Also think he was possibly the illegitimate son of an ELIZA CAMPBELL.
Possibly this is the following family on the 1860 Marion County census:
CAMPBELL CATHERINE 59 F W
CAMPBELL ELIZA A 28 F W FARM LABOR
CAMPBELL WILLIAM 22 M W FARM LABOR
CAMPBELL HELLIN 20 F W
CAMPBELL ANDREW 11 M W
CAMPBELL MARTHA 8 F W
CAMPBELL NEAL 0 M W 7/12
CAMPBELL ALBERT 0 M W 8/12
Any validation or extensions to this data are much appreciated!!!
TIA,
Susan

Susan,
While this doesn't address your question directly, I have come across several
instances in the mid-1800s where people used their first and middle names
interchangeably. For example one g-grandfather went by Hiram J. sometimes and
other times he went by J. Hiram. Perhaps in the latter, he was "puttin' on the
dog" or "fancifying" his name. (Both terms are colloquial NC mountain
expressions.)
Perhaps your gg-grandfather went by Andrew J. or J. Andrew and there was some
question about what the "J." stood for.

Can someone tell me the name of the family homeplace that is located in eastern Kentucky. It is built on the top of a mountain and is now considered a tourist attraction. I think the family left the buildings there several years ago. I also think the name was something like Henley or Hanley.

I shipped the Campbell family history book, Aug, 2001
and found printing and shipping has gone up considerably since the original cost.
I would require $48.00, plus $4.00 shipping for any addtional books.
