Hi list: I'm searching for my Adams relatives. Lucy Mary Adams, b.
1852 in Worcester, Eng. married my GGrandfather Thomas Boyd Campbell in
Madoc, Ont. in 1875. Parents Charles & Ann (Spire) Adams. Charles
(1815-1884); Ann (?? - 1855). They were married in Worcester in 1844
and had 7 children: James (1845-1857); William (1846 - ?); Martha Ann
(1848-1854); Ann (1849-?); Emma (1850-?); Herbert (1851-?); and Lucy
Mary (1852 -1930 in Toronto). An 8th son, A.E. Adams was born, in 1863
and must have been a half-brother to Lucy since her mother Ann Spire
died in 1855.
I'm looking for descendants of Lucy's siblings. Did they all die in
England? Did any emmigrate? Anyone recognize these names? Any help
appreciated. Thanks.

Robert, My great grandfather was named William Burns, b.May 1840 in Stormont County Ontario. His father was Robert Burns, b. Scotland, and mother Sarah Campbell, b. Ireland. William's brothers were James and John. William emigrated to U.S. in 1866 from Toronto, Ontario.
Any chance you have the names of William's brothers? I am guessing that Robert may have been born 1800-1810. Can't find him listed in any census for Stormont County.

I have been at this family tree idea for about a week when I happened upon your note. My grandfather, John Campbell, owed a store (grocery) and later a grist mill in the village of Parishville, New York. He died there probably in 1935/36. I will check the cemetary next summer for the exact date. He was short and heavy in statue.
I remember him as a grumpy, sharp-tonged old man, rather mean spirited!!!!!!!!! As a child I was afraid of him. He once drove us out to an old weather beaten house near Parishvill e and told us it was where he was born, then grumped that there was "no brass plate announcing it"!!!! I took it seriously and felt that he must have been important . He insisted that he was French and pronounced his name, camp-BELL which he di d as he did not want any one to think his name was pronounced like a 'humped animal'. He also claimed, besides being French, he was part Indian. We never took this seriously--the French part either.
He might be John Amos Campbell--he had no relatives that we ever met, he would have been born in the Parishville, Hopkinten, Brasher area in St. Lawrence County of New York State. We may not have a connection here but this was fun, Diane.

I am also researching the Campbells in Nova Scotia and Scotland. My first known ancestor was Angus Campbell, born about 1831 in Nova Scotia, his father was born in Scotland, perhaps the Glasgow/Hamilton area. Angus also had a brother John Campbell born about 1837. Angus married a lady named Elizabeth born about 1836 in Nova Scotia. Angus and Elizabeth's children were; Effie Campbell born about 1852, married Neil J. McDonald, Roderick (Rory) Donald Campbell born about 1861, Middle River, Cape Breton Island, died 1933 in Glace Bay, married Catherine Adamson, John (Jack) "Black Jack" Campbell, born about 1865, died after 1891, married Anne born about 1866, Daniel Campbell born about 1870, died after 1891, married Jessie McPhee, Mary Belle Campbell born about 1874, died after 1891. The children of Angus' brother John Campbell born about 1837, died after 1891, and his wife Mary Ann MacDonald were; Daniel Campbell born about 1863, John James Campbell born about 1870, died 19!
29, married Laura Uloth, Alexander Campbell born about 1871, died 1955, Katie Campbell, born about 1877, Laura Campbell born about 1878, died 1929. The family originally lived in the Middle River/Baddeck area of Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, and later moved to the Glace Bay area. There may have been more children in all of these families. They were Scottish Presbyterians. If any of this looks familiar please let me know. I have had very little luck tracing this branch of the family beyond Angus and his brother John.

I am looking for information on Hugh Campbell of New Orleans. Are any of your Louisiana Campbells in New Orleans? Hugh was married to Winifred Roper in 1858; they had nine children all born in New Orleans. I am unable to find anything on Hugh's parents, date or place of birth. Any help would be appreciated.
Do you know "where " in Pennsylvania Henry was from? Approximately when he
was born? anything more specific? Almost all of "my" Campbells were from
Pa. (Western mostly) but my G.G.Grandfather lived (at least for some time)
in Salinsville, Ohio(Columbiana County)circa 1840-50.
I did have one Henry in my line (that I know of) but he died in a drowning
accident in the Ohio River while working on a river barge, I believe in the
late 1950's or early 60's. This probably is not "your" though, he would be
too young I'm guessing. V/R Paul C.

Happy Holidays Everyone!
I'm still working on my Campbells and would love to find some answers! (as would all of us!!) I'm looking for JERRY (JEREMIAH) CAMPBELL who married RUTH HALE and MARIAH ???. They lived in Knox Co. Ky and then for a while in Floyd Co. KY.
Three children:
JAMES H. b. abt.1862
REBECCA b. abt. 1865 or1866 (my line) m. Tob DeRossett
MARTHA b. abt. 1869
daughter with MARIAH. . .SARAH b. abt.????
I believe he is part of the ALLEN CAMPBELL son of WILLIAM AND MARY CAMPBELL of N.C. who moved to Knox Co. Ky.
But before I can join this wonderful group of Campbells, I'd like to find a little more information. It would be heart breaking to find out later that I'd been mistaken and have to dis join this group.
Any information anyone has on Jerry, (Jeremiah) or his children will be most appreciated! I will share all the info that I have too!
Best Regards,
Fran

I had Campbell's in Marvin, SD at about that time-frame, (Jacob S. Campbell, b. March 01, 1853 in Indiana, d. January 12, 1938, Lebanon Oregon). The interesting thing though is that they had moved to SD from Spring Valley, MN. By 1908 my family had moved from SD on to the Wilamette Valley of Oregon. There are no Violettes in our family, but there was Jacob's brother, Daniel Campbell, b. February 05, 1859 in Indiana, who dropped out of sight as far as we are able to tell. The only trace we have is a photo of he and his wife in front of a sod home.
If there are any descendants of Daniel out there, there are cousins with family info for you!
