Carole,
I am researching my Campbells who came through Nova Scotia too. (crossing
fingers) Does your George Campbell, have a son named Peter Campbell? All I
know is my gggrandfather was named Peter Campbell who according to his son's
birth certificate (David Colin Campbell,1873) was from Scotland and that he
was an engineer. His first born was named George Peter Campbell, which leads
me to believe that my ggGgrandfather may have been a George Campbell. Peter
Campbell eventually moved his family to Cambridge, MA.
Ring any bells?
David Campbell Lane, Orlando, FL
I missed the posting for Joseph and Elizabeth Campbell. With so many postings
to get through every day, I'm not reading them all as carefully as I should.
Anyway, although our Williams have different birth years, it's definately
worth comparing notes.
I don't know exactly where in Ohio they came from, but I've been suspecting
its Hamilton Co. because there were Perrys there too, which was Samuel's
wife's maiden name.
I have the names for two of Williams siblings: Sarah J., born about 1845, and
John W., born about 1835.
Samuel and his wife Ann moved to Spencer Co., IN during the 1850's. They show
up on the 1860 and 1870 census for Spencer Co.
William married Perlina Tuley in 1864 in Spencer Co. Their oldest son James
was born there in 1866, and I believe they moved to Texas before 1870.
William and Perlina had the following children:
James (1866-1932)
Charley
Del (or Dee)
George
J.W.
Jane
Pearl
Grover (1886-1952) (My grandfather)
William and Perlina then moved to Barry Co., MO in the 1890's with at least
six of their children. Let me know if any of this looks familiar.

You are quite right in that Nancy could have been married twice. The
confusion stems from the fact that Nancy and William H. Horton were
married in Stokes County, NC in 1795 and Old William's will (where
transcribed copy mentioned "Nancy Linthecom, various spellings) was
written in 1816. Nancy Campbell and William Hill Horton's youngest
child (that I know of) was Reece B. Horton born 1819 in Lincoln County,
TN. I have been in contact with a very old descendant of this Reece
Horton who, all those years ago, had researched his ancestors and sent
me Reece's Civil War records which included date and place of birth as
well as a physical description. He knew little else, other than this
and the descendancy down to him.
If a marriage record for Nancy Campbell and Linthecom could be found, it
would mean that I have been researching the wrong Nancy Campbell. I was
unsuccessful in my first
attempt to obtain a copy of the original will of Old William in Lincoln
Co., TN and realize
that I should try again as the transcriber of the will copy that I have
could have made an
understandable error (some of these old documents are very hard to
read).

Good Morning,
I believe my g grandfather Daniel Campbell might have entered the states
around 1860. At least the 1900 census for Waterbury Conn. says that he had
been in the states for 30 years. That would make him around 7 at the time.
His birth year is 1853 by the 1900 census but his death record states 1858
as his birth year. His death year was 1913.
Does anyone on the list know or have access to ship lists for the Mass area
and can do a fast look up for me. What is the history of that state and the
general time frame of 1860's for Irish people entering the states in that
area.
If he came to the states with his father his name is also Daniel Campbell
and his mother Julia Bressalian. I might have her name spelled wrong as the
only record I have is very hard to read.
Would appreciate any tips you have for me.
Thank you
Patty

Do you have a death certificate? That should show where he was born and
who his parents were. Which Campbells were in IN in 1840? Mine were
in Green Co and Fountain Co, IN. but I don't have any Robert James in
database. there was a james in Fountain co m. in 1836, could be
connected. But the death certificate should be the best help.

Here's my line again. Please, anyone with Campbell ancestors from
Ireland who lived in Carlisle, Pa. area, or Wayne Co., Ohio or Hancock
Co., Ohio, please contact me. Also, in answer to the lady who asked me
if there was a group specifically looking for Campbells in Ireland. Not
to my knowledge.
WILLIAM CAMPBELL-probably born in the 1770's or lage 60's in N. Ireland,
County Down, somewhere in the vicinity of Balleyroney or Rathfrieland.
Married ELIZABETH ? Early records claim that he emigrated to the
Carlisle, Pa. area at some point, but didn't like it and returned to
Ireland the same year.
MARY ANN CAMPBELL- born in Ireland in 1795. Married JAMES THOMAS in
Ireland in 1814, and emigrated to Norfolk, Va. in 1816. In Jan. of
1817, they moved to Carlisle, Pa., stayed there for 5 years, moved to
Baughman Twp., Wayne Co., Ohio, lived there for 13 years, and finally
moved to Hancock Co., Ohio.
Wile living in Wayne Co., Ohio, (according to the 1830 census), there
was a WILLIAM CAMPBELL (age 40-50) who had 4 sons and 3 daughters, and
on another farm, an ELIZABETH CAMPBELL, (AGE 40-50), who had 6 sons.
Both of these families were living in close proximity to James and Mary
Ann Campbell Thomas. I believe that this William may have been a
brother, and Elizabeth, a widowed sister-in-law.
I also believe that they must have had relatives in Carlisle before they
arrived, since so many of the family found their way there. There is
also evidence that Mary Ann had a brother SAMUEL CAMPBELL, who probably
did not emigrate to America, however, his grandchildren may have moved
to Canada.
Anyone with Campbell Irish connections please contact me.
I don't know this will help because I don't have all the pieces to the puzzler.
my g-g-granddad was a Thomas Edwin Campbell he married a fatimy mitchell the had
my g-granddad Thomas Franklin Campbell he married a Mary Duke (first married)
they had 5 children (she died ) Thomas married an Amnada Ellen McKinney (my
G-grandmom) they also had a daughter named Nancy Jane Campbell no inform on her
at all. Please let me know if it fits in your puzzle, i need help to find my
great grandparents also Darlene Campbell Love

Hello Listers,
What an unbelievably twisted web this Campbell lineage is!! After watching request after request
for the past 10 months I figured I would throw my hat into the ring.
I too have a William Campbell (my ggg Grandfather) in my line that hails from Wilson County
Tennessee. He was born in 1810 and died Nov. 28, 1878 and is buried in Collin County TN.
William married a Polly (Mary) Rhea (pronounced Ray) on October 30, 1834 in Wilson County TN.
Together they had the following Children: Thomas L. b. 1837, Monroe b. 1840 Ann b.1841, Louisa b.
1843, Jane b. 1844, Olivia (Ollie) b. 1848, Marshall b. 1850, Mary b. 1851.
I am in search of any information I can find on the parents of William Campbell. We believe that
they were James Campbell and Elizabeth McCoy who were married in Mercer County, KY on April 25,
1794. It is also believed that James may have emigrated from Scotland, but this has yet to be
proven.
Children born to James and Elizabeth are believed to be a Hugh b.1796, James Jr., Thomas, Sarah,
William b. 1810, Elizabeth.
James and Elizabeth moved from Mercer County KY to Wilson County TN sometime in the very early
1800's. James was a farmer and a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church in the Round Lick Creek
area of Wilson County, TN. Which is now the present day community of Watertown.
Does any of this ring a bell with anyone? I have more information on the children of James &
Elizabeth as well as William and Mary's children.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Jim Campbell
