Hello All - I have been reading the postings for sometime now, and want
everyone to know how interesting and educational all the postings are.
I am posting again in hopes of finding out where in this gaggle of a
family our Campbell falls in.
Particularly am looking for my Great Grandfather, Jesse James Campbell,
born in 1858.
Oral tradition says he was born in Hartford, CN, his death certificate
states New Jersey with a birth date of 8/2/1858 and a copy of his
obituary in the local paper states he was born in Philladelphia on
6/6/1858 and does not give his parents. We do know for certain that he
died 10/23/1940.
Some of us in the family are beginning to wonder if we are even
Campbells and that perhaps he "re-invented" himself, since his origins
are becoming more obscure. We know of no siblings.
Thanks in advance for any possible help,
Deb (Campbell) O'Donnell

Hi, I've never responded to this before. My name is Sandra Campbell Franklin
and all my Campbell ancestors are from WV also. Your right, they are hard to
find. Seems like no one on this list is related to me. They lived in Ritchie
County.
Charles Campbell married Clara Nutter in 1897. They had 5 children. William,
Ella,Homer,Floyd and Forrest. Ella and Homer (my Grandfather) are the only
ones that had families. Don't know anything past that.
Thank you.
Anne, Winnie Alice Sevier, Campbell, lived most her life in Russell County,
Va, Or at least until Abram died, then to Washington Co, VA. On two
ocassions, she went to TN to have those two children. I think she probably
went home where she had Sevier relatives, but cannot find anything to prove
her relationship. I don't recognize the other names you have from the
census but it is possible there was a connection. I am looking for info
about the Parrott family, don't know anything yet. Sometimes, it gets very
frusterating, doesn't it? Thanks for your response. Lana
