Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
The marriage announcement below is from the Daily Advocate, Belleville, St.
Clair county, IL. I have on file a letter from the Belleville News Democrat
(which the Advocate became a part of in later years) giving me permission
to post any item that would be of help to genealogists. Unless stated to be
a different state, all references to cities, villages etc. are in Illinois.
I have been reading the Advocate on microfilm through inter library loan
for several years, having started with 1850. The name of the paper and the
paper date are shown at the end of each article. Transcribed and submitted

Joe, That place may work for a few people but for me it don't. The Campbell
I am looking for is Franklin Campbell. So when I put in Franklin and ask
for a search I got 250. It was all places with Franklin Counties. So that
site was not good for me.

Hi everyone! I am very new to your list and I have a question. My family is
apparently from Scotland. It is a rather small family with the surname
Yelton. We have not been able to make the link from Virginia (early 1700s)
back to Scotland, but have found the name in the Lanarkshire and Clyde Valley
areas, going back to the 1600s. What we do know is, our family motto "I Byde
My Tyme". It is the same as the Cambells of Loudon. And strangely enough, the
family first appears in Loudon Co., Virginia! So do you think that this means
my family was under the protection of the Cambells? If so, am I eligible to
be a member of Clan Cambell? My mother's family has strong ties to the Clan
Buchannan, but it is the Yelton family that I am most interested in (my Dad's
side). Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to give.

I feel r-e-a-l-l-y embarassed. When I asked that the person who
contacted me with information on my husband's Campbell line, I sent the
wrong name.
I am looking for information on JAMES WESLEY OR JAMES W. CAMPBELL in
Fleming Co., KY - not John W. (actually, there is a reason for the
mistake - my other "stone wall" is my father's Dad who was a John W. -
guess I just got the 2 mixed up!).
My James W. Campbell had a daughter, Elizabeth, in 1896 my husband's
grandmother). He had other daughters, too, - among them a Molly.
If anyone has anything at all on this Campbell family, please let me
know - and forgive me for having sent out the wrong name.
Thank you all.

Hi All, I went to this site and found it to be a great site.
Vanessa
One of the questions often asked on genealogy email lists is "Where an I
find that book?".
Because of this, I am developing a site where societies and individuals can
list publications for
sale as well as links to the society's web site. GeneaSearch.com will
provide a central point for
users to look for books they want to purchase.
Users are invited to add their favorite links to help other researchers, as
well as to add their own
sites. The goal is to make an interactive resource for assisting in online
and offline research.
I would like to invite you to list your society on our list of societies
and to list any
publications and any links you would care to add. You can add them
directly on the GeneaSearch.com
site.
The address is: http://www.geneasearch.com
By the way, GeneaSearch is genealogy + research.
Thanks,
Donna

his wife? or a survivors pension for George ? If he was an immigrant, when
did he come to America and from whence?

Hi everyone,
I'm looking for the parents and any siblings of Sarah Maria

Here's hoping someone has info on the following Campbells. Any input will be deeply appreciated.
George Wilfred Campbell. Born Nov. 18, 1861 in Saint John. Died in 1942
He was the son of William and Ellen Campbell, of Scottish descent.
George Wilfred married Agnes Douglas Milligan, in 1887. They had four daughters, and two sons. One of which was my Father, William Hedley Campbell. The other son was named Kenneth Inches, the daughters married into the families of Girvan, McNab, Evans and Clark. Hope to hear from someone, thank you.

Does anyone have any information about William Von or Van CAMPBELL, born in
Scott County, KY, c. 1810. He was in Albion, Edwards County, IL by 1835. He
married Elizabeth LUCAS c. 1830, but I do not know whether in KY or IL. He
was in the Wabash County, IL census of 1840. He and Elizabeth had 2
daughters that I know of: Mary A. b. 1838 and Emma H. born 1845, both listed
as born in Albion.
The property in Albion was sold in 1845 and that is the last I know of the
family until Mary married in St. Louis in 1867 and Emma in Georgetown, KY in
1868.
Will be most grateful for any assistance.
