HI,
I am looking for my CAMPBELL ancestors on this list and that is why I
subscribe to it. Though I agree there does not seem to be much searching
in Scotland it maybe because most people haven't gotten back that far yet.
I am looking for any info on Christine CAMPBELL born say between 1820-1830
who married David VALENTINE. They had a son William C. VALENTINE born ca
1851 in Scotland died 12 July 1919 in Allegheny County, Pa.
Thank you..
Larry Stackhouse

Hi, Folks,
We've determined that the forwarded message about the bill in Congress
is a hoax.
Now let's get back to genealogy. PLEASE, no more discussion on this!

I agree! I found that the underlying anger in the message from Bill
disturbed me and felt it was inappropriate. I did not feel that way about
the information concerning internet charges. I wonder why Bill hasn't
complained about the occasional jokes that circulate this list? Hmmm. No
more anger--PLEASE.

Hi y'all,
I need to ask if anyone has heard of a marriage between
CAMPBELL (groom) --- BELINDESS (bride)
This would have taken place between 1758 and 1763.
Probably in the Augusta Co., VA area, in the proximity
of Lexington, but it could have been in another nearby
area.
I've all ready checked with the FTM researchers for the
surname of BELINDESS... and I have come up empty. The
source for this had listed HARRIS, as HANIE, so the
BELINDESS could easily have been a transcription error
as well. Old handwriting has a way of doing that!
Yes, I had all ready rearranged the letters (blindness)
but I don't think that's a surname. <grin> I have all
ready gotten that as a 'helpful' suggestion...
Any suggestions will be appreciated...
Lisa Grimes
While looking for my "lost" Stephen CAMPBELL, I found these in Kentucky.
1870 Fleming County, KY - Tilton
pg. 523
Campbell, Stephen, 39, Male, White, Working in wagon shop, $1,200, $300, KY
Cornelia, 30, F, W, Keeping House, KY
Charles, 16, M, W, at home, KY, school w/in yr.
Albert, 15, M, W, at home, KY, school w/in yr.
Minnie, 6, F, W, KY
Hi, Folks,
Thanks to Lowell McCulley, I've a reference to a web page at the FCC that
discusses dial-up access to your ISP:
http://www.fcc.gov/Bureaus/Common_Carrier/News_Releases/1999/nrcc9014.html
BTW, I did notice that the title of the page is cut off. It reads:
FCC Adopts Order Addressing Dial-Up Internet Traffic: FCC Lets
States Decide Whether Existing Interconnections Decisions Affected by
Ruling; FCC Seeks Comment on Proposals to Govern Future Compensation
Agreements
and the document is dated February 25, 1999.
I also found this page:
http://www.fcc.gov/Bureaus/Common_Carrier/Factsheets/nominute.html
dated 2/1999
and http://www.fcc.gov/Bureaus/Common_Carrier/Factsheets/ispfact.html
dated 1/1998
So, if you should receive a forwarded message urging you to contact your
Congressperson, reply to the sender to let them know it's ancient history,
and that they should probably contact whoever sent it to them.

Hi, Folks,
In order to effectively communicate with Congress, it is helpful to know
exactly what bill you are complaining about, and exactly when a vote is
going to be taken.
Does anyone know?
Or is this old news that's been floating around the Internet for a while?

I had also seen that about the charge for using the internet and had written
my Senator here is the reply I received from him:
"During the last congress Senate resolution 86 was introduced in the Senate.
This resolution called for greater dialogue between the Local Exchange
Carriers and the Internet community in an effort to reach a mutually
beneficial resolution to the issues relating to connecting to the Internet.
Senate Resolution 86 was referred to the Senate Committee on Commerce and
remained there at the end of that session. As of this writing, no legislation
has been introduced in the House of Representatives that imposes long distance
charges on Internet usage.
While I will continue to monitor legislation being introduced, I have also
contacted the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regarding their
involvement in this matter. The FCC indicated that they had no intentions of
assessing per minute charges on Internet traffic or making any changes in the
way consumers obtain and pay for access to the Internet."
This is from Tom Udall, Senator for New Mexico.
I would like to invite everyone to post queries on the new surname Board
at rootsweb/genconnect for the Surname Campbell it was only added to
Rootsweb today so if you hurry you might be the first post hehehe
