Good Evening,
I am back on the list for a little while. Will be starting on another
research tour in the next week. Am a guest at this base.
Now, w hile unpacking found a copy of a letter sen to my brother back in
1988 from Napa, California. Will be here for a week.
"As you can see by the charts, Weldon is the g-g-grandson of Washington
Campbell. A nice little old lady in Ashland, Oregon gave me a lot of my
information on Washington Campbll's family. I had two letters and several
conversations with her before she died. She was Beulah Whetstone, the
youngest child of Charles Edwin Campbell, Washington's youngest child. She
said that Washington was born at Bethel, West Va. She also said that her
father used to talk about Great Uncle Alexander all the time. This
Alexander was the founder of the Christian "Campbellite" Church, later the
Disciples of Christ and the Christian Church. I have never been able to
find a relationship between Washington and Alexander."
"A couple of years ago, I heard from a woman who said that Washington's
parents were Abraham Campbell and his wife Winnie, but offered no proof. I
wrote to her, asking for sources.... she didn't answer then, or ever."
We were most interested to find that you had tons of twins...twins are
everywhere in Weldon's family except for the present generation. "
I have left out of the letter data that we have since found was not
correct inorder not to cause confusion.
The following is from family group sheets that was included. Now, if any
of you wrote this letter, would you please contact me.
It starts with Washington Campbell, ( I believe his name was George
Washington, but that he went by Washington. abc) He was born in 1818 in
Russell Co., Va., a son of Abraham and Winnie Campbell. It shows the date
of 14 June 1872, Windield, Cowley Co., Kansas. However in the line next to
it is the name Charles E. Campbell . It says burial at Highland Co.,
Winfield, Kansas. Is there anyone out there that can do a little
research on this part of it as it is not clear. abc.
It has listed as his wife, Ann Maddox born 13 March 1820 in Hawkins Co.,
Tenn. and death on 9 Aug 1891 in Winfield, Cowley Co., Kansas and burial in
Higland Cem. Winfield, Kansas. The parents of Ann is shown as Thomas
Maddox and Frances Roberson.
Their chilren as

Civil War.

L. Carer. Died 13 May 1953 in Phoenix, Oregon.
Arron Campbell no other information at this time.
Then there was a child whowas killed in a gun accident. here is more
written beside this but I am not abl to read it.
In this family line descending it goes from Washington CAmpbell to Martha
Martha Campbell whomarried William Henry Eaton . Wdied 19 May 1928 in Is
it Friona, Texas. Is there such a place? down to Mary Elisabeth Eaton
born in McPaul, Fremont Co., Ia. who married William L. Pope.

Many of us have photographs and portraits of Campbell ancestors we think are
of interest only to our immediate family. As I have become aware of the many
Campbell researchers, it occurs to me that we may have images which would be
important to others. My particular interest is the Campbell line which has
been so well documented by Phil Norfleet at his website for the Southwest
Virginia Campbells http://members.tripod.com/~philnorf/
If researchers would let me know of images they hold for ancestors in this
family line, I would be happy to act as a clearinghouse. Initially I am
simply trying to learn if any others are interested and have photographs or
portraits. If there is enough interest, I may attempt an online archive.
I have photographs of the following individuals descended from Alexander
Campbell of Southwest Virginia or married to a descendant:
Jane Campbell (1799-1861) m. David McCord Campbell (1794-1819)
David Lee Campbell (1824-1900) m. Martha Fruit
Thomas Pemberton Campbell (1856-1924) m Hettie Martha Barr (1861-1936)
My mother has photographs of others. If you are interested in adding to this
potential archive, or are simply willing to let others know of your holdings,
please contact me.

Hello fellow CAMPBELL researcher,
Check out my very under construction genealogy site to see if my information
can be of help to you. My hompage includes surname information, family
groups, gedcom databases, queries, Scottish Clan history and information,
great links, and more. See the list of surnames listed below. I have more
information but it will take some time to get it onto the site. I will be
adding more surnames very soon. I hope you find the site informative and
interesting. I have a very busy schedule but I am trying to get more
information onto the site as quickly as I can. You may already have a
genealogical query on the website, if so please let me know if I need to
make any corrections or additions. If you do not have a query but would
like to add yours to one of the query pages, please send me the info you are
looking for. Please use a similar format to the already existing queries.
Please include your name and e-mail address in the query. If you know of
any good links that should be on the list, let me know. E-mail me with any
of your questions or comments. I will try to answer you back as soon as I
can.
Please feel free to forward this message to any people that you know are
researching the same surnames and in the same general geographical areas..
Thanks, Lynda (THOMAS) CAMPBELL
I am only doing major research (and query pages) for only some of these
names. (*) denotes pages already in existence. (#) denotes pages to be
ready in the future or may lead you to another page where that name can be
found.

Hello all,
I am trying to find out some ties to the past concerning my great, great
grandparents.
My Great, Great Grandfather was named Rufus Campbell, born approximately 1852.
He married Mary George Camp on September 5, 1877, in St. Clair County,
Alabama.
I believe he had at least two brothers: Robert Campbell, born approximately
1854; and John, born approximately 1856.
In the 1870 census for St. Clair County, all three boys were living at the
home of Joseph and Josephine Young, along with their 4 children: John, Levi,
Phillip and Fanny.
My Great Grandmother was named Mollie Modenie Campbell.
She married William Henry Franklin on November 1, 1897.
She had two sisters and one brother that I know of: Jack, Hattie and Lee O.
Can anyone help me find out where they came from and who they were?
Karen.
For anyone that would like to this information.
The only Harris Inforamtion I have is on
Asheth Harris
Born in Youngstown, Ohio
Died 1902 in Scott City, Kansas
She was Irish, Scotch and Indian
Her father was Bartlet Harris, I have know other information on him and I do
not know her mothers name.
Wow! This looks like a great research site: live database and image
access to more than two million Federal land title records for the
Eastern Public Land States, issued between 1820 and 1908.
<http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/>
You will find records for these states:
Alabama
Arkansas
Florida
Illinois
Indiana
Louisiana
Michigan
Minnesota
Mississippi
Missouri
Ohio
Wisconsin
You can search by an ancestor's name or you can search by the land
description and find out who homesteaded a parcel of land.
Looking for the father of Oliver Campbell, born November 11, 1831-37 in
or around Dansville, Livingston County, NY. Mother was Sarah Williams,
date and place of birth unknown. Trying to find Oliver's father's name,
date of his parents' marriage, and if there were any other siblings.

Sue (Wilson),
The diaries you posted are very interesting. I see that Scott County,
IL, is close to Jersey County, IL. Do you know if any of your Campbell
ancestors lived in Jersey County in the 1800's? My great-grandfather
was John Campbell, born around 1845 on a farm near Jerseyville, IL. His
mother was Elinda (Malinda?) Campbell, maiden name Day. Her husband may
have died around 1845 or 1846, because Elinda Day Campbell then married
Nathan Cope, and her son (my great-grandfather), John Campbell, took the
name Cope.

Once again, I will post my info, in the hopes that someone new will see it and
spring eternal for me!!!! My brick wall is not nearly as far back as most
Campbells here. My great grandfather was William H. Campbell. He was born
May 9, 1845 in Ga (info according to 1880 Hall Co, GA USA). His parents were
also born in GA, but I do not have the slightest idea who they were or if he
had any siblings. The earliest record that I find on him is his marriage
record from Hall County, GA dated October 17, 1872, he married Amanda S.
Godfrey b. July 22, 1854. He died in Walton County, Georgia on October 7,
1916; she died Feb.20, 1900. They had 6 children: Ella (m. Peter Smith),
Alfred Perry (A.P or Perry,my grandfather b. Oct. 23, 1877 d. Nov. 4, 1952 m.
Maybell Hayes June 23, 1901), Mary Delilah (Dillie d. Nov. 29, 1965 never
married), Ida E. (m. William Williams), Nancy Lavadia (Vadie m. Stokes Steed
d. Sept.5, 1967) and Robert Henry (Bobby, never married, WW ? Veteran d. May
10, 1969) I also, know that he was a Civil War Veteran, 43rd Regiment Ga
Infantry from Hall County. He and Amanda (Mandy) are buried at Mountain Creek
Baptist Church in Pendergrass, Jackson County, GA.
I have a note from what I believe to be a census record from 1880 Hall
County, GA that has a Samuel T. Campbell with wife Martha Mary Brown and
children, Wm (Billy) b. 1845, H. Benjamin b. 1855, John R(S?) b. 1858, Rudolph
C. b. 1863, Eddie b. 1870 and Sammy b.? Does anyone know this family???? I
am hoping that someone recognizes one or more of these names and can tell me
if this is my William.
Help!!!! I've been up against this wall for about 5 years, with no headway at
all since the beginning. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Seeking information on descendents or ancestors of Margaret Campbell, born
Thurso, Caithness 1861. Margarent left Scotland and was in the 1891 census
for Charlton Kings, Gloucester, married to James Stephens with children
William, James and John.

I haven't posted in awhile, so I thought I'd try again.
Am looking for Colin Campbell (aka Coll, Coll. N, Nicholas) Campbell, who was
born around 1806, supposedly in North Carolina. He had at least 3 sisters:
Margaret Euphemia (born around 1799 in North Carolina, died 1858 in New York
City); Arabella (b ?, died before 1855 in NYC); and Rosetta (b?, died before
1855).
The whole family seems to have relocated to New York City.
Margaret married Donald Campbell of Scotland. Donald was some years older
than Margaret; he was born around 1758 and died in 1825. They had 3 children:
Donald McAlpin Campbell (b. @1820-1855); Sarah Malvina Campbell (1822-1842);
Frances Jane Campbell (b @ 1817-d.1821). Margaret and all of her children
died in New York City. There is a family plot in Cypress Hills Cemetery: also
buried there are Charles E. Campbell and Duncan P. Campbell, who are
contemporaries of Margaret and Colin, both born around 1810.
Arabella married Christopher Livings (b. @1806-died 1866). They had several
children: Christopher Livings (1829-?); Margaret Ephemia "Effie" C. Livings
(1831-1856); Campbell C. Livings (abt. 1834-1872); Nicholas C. Livings (abt.
1836-1863); Anna Butterworth Livings (1836-?); Duncan Campbell Livings
(1838-?). Oddly, in the 1850 census of NYC, all of the Livings children are
living with Margaret and using the last name Campbell.
Rosetta married a man named McQueen and had a daughter, Rosetta, who married
Peter Frasse.
Any information about Colin's parents would be greatly appreciated.
Good luck and good hunting!

Specifically, I'm looking for the parents of Nancy A. Campbell b. 1858 in
Illinois who married Isaac O. CLARY in Winfield, Cowley Co., Kansas on 18
Jun 1884. Not sure if Isaac divorced Nancy or she died, but Isaac later
