At the risk of sounding sarcastic, is there no one else looking for
their Canadian Campbell roots? I am trying to locate any info on my
grandfather's brother, Charles. He was born 1889. Believe that his
nickname was Buster. He is rumoured to have gone to the U.S. but no one
is really sure where or when. All trace has been lost. Can someone help?
I have several other Canadian Campbells for which I am searching
ancestors and/or descendants. am willing to share info if it looks
promising.
I know of a Susan Gatch who lived on either Palo Alto or Pasedena Calif.
She is the daughter of my grandfather's sister, Jean Campbell. She
married a Dr. Willis Gatch and lived in Terre Haute, Indiana. Not much
else known about that branch of the family.
Thanks to anyone who can help me. Ross Campbell

Subject: island
Hello, I was wondering if you could tell me if you had any
information in regards to an island off the coast of Scotland that
was once owned by Campbells but was sold to the British when the
Campbells moved to North America. The problem is that I don't believe
that these Campbells were ever part of a clan. The Campbells came to
North America and settled in Cape Breton and also founded Campbell's
Creek which is a small community on the West coast of Newfoundland.
Any information you have or if you could direct me to someone who
would know would be gratly appreciated. Thank you for your time.
Sincerly,
Stefan T. Campbell

Good Evening,
I am finally back. We had a wonderful CAmpbell - Bethell reunion on the
coast of Oregon, even after the lost of one of the Campbell clan, Ray
Campbell just four days before the reunion. He had wanted the family
reunion to continue and not be cancelled.
A wonderful time was had by all. Have returned even more determined to get
some of the Campbell data written down and distributed to the family.
Will be very busy for the next week but wanted to let you know I will be
plugging in.

Elizabeth was my great-grandmother and last bearer of Campbell name in my
line.
John Campbell settled in Crosby Twp. Hamilton Co. OH in 1803, on SW quarter
of Section #10. This entire section was purchased by John's sister
Elizabeth Campbell and husband, Joseph McMaken. McMakens actually settled
in nearby Butler Co. OH. Also settling on this land in Crosby Twp. Ham.
Co. were John's sister, Margaret Campbell and husband Andrew Wakefield, and
brother-in-law, James Armstrong, husband of desceased sister, Catherine
Campbell. Oral tradition claims these siblings left Franklin Co. PA after
death of father, Andrew, and traveled to Boones' Station KY, for a short
time, then went north to cross the Ohio River at North Bend to stay at
Symmes Station until Congress Land was purchased.
John Campbell Sr. had four known sons. David C. Campbell, . 1790; John
Jr. b. 1794; Joseph b. ca. 1808; and Alexander b. 1810. It is not known
whether wife Sarah was mother of all or any of above children.
Would like to hear from anyone who may belong to this line.

Hello to all Campbell's out there!
I have recently found several more cousins and the father of my oldest
known Campbell, Andrew J. Campbell. I found out his father was James
Criswell Campbell who was probably born in Alabama around 1793. He
married Clora Warbington about 1825 in Wilcox Co., Alabama. He died on
December 4 1854 in Mt. Selman, Cherokee Co., Texas. My thinking is that
James C. Campbell's father, who so far is unknown, was born in Scotland
and came over and had his children here. Does anyone recognize these
names? Where in the world would I start looking to see if this man came
over on a ship? I still need James C. Campbell's father's name before I
start searching, obviously. That's my update. I hope someone can help
me.

There isn't much to go on, but I'm still trying to find Mary Campbell b 1811
in County Down, Ireland. I think she had a brother James Campbell who came
to the US in 1832 and a brother William came to the US in 1835 James had
parents Hugh Campbell and Elizabeth Finley. James and William both left
Ireland from Belfast and went to Quebec, Canada. James went first to Genesse
County, NY and then to Kalamazoo Co., MI. Can anyone give me suggestions?
