Born between 1870 and 1890.
Names were Alvoid DeWitt (my gfather), Robert (Buck) and Clint.
I believe all were born in NYC.

Robert's children: Lillian
Clint had no children.
Any info available would be appreciated.
Info I have collected so far is online at
I'm putting this out there again. Just in case anybody recognizes my

I need some help. Or a prayer!*S*
I am looking for my Campbell line. I found one member of the line, in
Illinois, or at least I think I have. But have not been able to find
anything written, to confirm that it is him.
Am hoping someone might have some suggestions.
This line is centering around Thomas B. Campbell. What I know about him,
is that his father's name was John, and that John was possibly married
to an Agnes( no last name).
Thomas married Mary Ellen Wilkerson, supposedly in Woodford co.,
Illinois, by 1857. But were not listed in the 1860 census for Woodford
A lookup in the 1870 census, that was done for me, shows a Thomas
Campbell, in Macon co,Illinois.
In the 70 census, this Thomas Campbell was age 41, born in Tennessee.
His wife was named Mary, age 37, born in Indiana, same age as my Mary
Ellen, who was born in Indiana. But no mention of how many years they
had been married.
There are 5 children listed with this family, one of which, is age 18,
named Olive, who would have been born before my couple got married.
Olive and another child were born in Iowa, the other 3 children were
born in Illinois.
According the the history of austin twnshp, Thomas B. Campbell was a
superviser in 1868, in Macon county.
My library has no census records for Macon county, and said it could be
6 wks before it comes in.
Sorry about the length.
Is anyone recognize anything here, or have any suggestions?
I am looking for ancestors and descendants of F. (Francis) W. Campbell.
He is my gg-grandfather. He was born in March of 1843 in either Bedford
County or Clarion County Pennsylvania (I have information leading me to
both places). F.W. served with the 78th PA Volunteers in the Civil War.
He was married to Christine Longstreth. They had nine children, Alex,
Elsie, Daisy, Charles, Harry Bell, William, Sara, John, and Sam. I am
certain that they lived in Armstrong County for a time and eventually
moved to Moon Run, Allegheny County in the late 1880's to 1890's. F.W.
was a blacksmith. He died in March of 1916.
I have recently been told a story from a relative that my Campbell
family ended up in Western PA around the time of the Battle of Bushy
Run. One of my relative supposedly served with the Black Watch regiment
in Haiti and came to Western PA to help the British fight the Indians.
So I am looking for any connections.
I am forwarding this to the list, as I do not have any information on this
branch of Campbell's. Can anyone help Mary out?

Being a very lazy person I have copied below an old query of mine in
answer to yours. Perhaps one day we will find that William and
James were brothers!
I need some kind of clue to help find James D Campbell of Virginia.
Each visit to the Indian Creek Cemetery in Calhoun County
Illinois, I stand at his son's stone and ask him to send
me a hint. So far, no help.
My first record of James D is his marriage, 29 August 1843 in Jasper
County Missouri to Polly Jane Gresham. She was only 15 years old. Her
parents were Joseph Abner Gresham and Martha "Patsy" Blakely. Joseph
was from Halifax County Virginia and Martha was born in Trigg County
Kentucky where they lived many years, most of their children were born
there. At the time of the wedding Polly's parents lived on the West
line of section 16, township 29, range 32 in Jasper County. It seems
James D would be living close by. Did he travel from Trigg with them?
Each family had a child somewhere in Missouri then in 1846 both families
traveled, by oxen, to Calhoun County Illinois where James purchased land
in February of 1847. James D died, 30 November 1862. His last
child was born the following month.
In the 1850 Calhoun census he is 34 and from Va. In the 1860 he is 40
and from Va. In some later census his children say he was from Ky.
A middle name for James D would help, the names of any other Campbells
in Jasper County between 1840 and 1845 would help, a birth record of
their first child Richard D would be great.
Any hints or clues will be appreciated as I have been looking for James
D's background for over 6 years.
Best to each of you,

I picked up your message from the Campbell list. I have a possible John
Campbell from Glasgow for you. He was the younger brother of my great
grandfather and born in Killin, Perthshire on 10 July 1874, the son of
George Campbell (1846-1920) and Janet Campbell (1841-1896). According
to my mother's first cousin now in her 90s this John was never mentioned
in the family. She knows he had children and believes he took to drink
and died at quite an early age of TB. His eldest son was killed in the
1914-18 war. It's going to be difficult to find out his wife's name but
not impossible as he must have been married sometime between 1892 and
1896 and his marriage certificate will be at the Scottish record office
in Edinburgh. My great grandfather was Alexander Campbell - he was
drowned in the Lousitania in 1915.

I am looking for the parents of William G. CAMPBELL, b. abt. 1815 in Botetourt
County, Virginia; m. 02 Jan. 1842 in Bedford County, VA, Emeline or Melina
GOFF, dau. of Archibald GOFF. Can anyone help me? I have William and Emeline
in the 1850, 1860, 1870, and 1880 censuses, and have found Emeline in the 1900
census living next door to her son Luther, so apparently William died between
1880 and 1900.
I'd really appreciate any help with this man!
