I inherited a photo album which had belonged to my grandfather, Joseph
DeForest Hoyt (1860 - 1903), who lived in Farmington Twp. and Nelson. Or it
may have belonged to his mother, Phebe Campbell Hoyt (1832 - 1917). In any
case, I had the photos scanned and I can send any of the photos to you as
e-mail attachments.
The photos are available in two sizes: small(10 - 25 KB) - which transmit
quickly over dial-up lines; or large (200 - 600 KB)- which can take several
minutes to download if you use dial-up lines. So, depending on how much
disk space you have, and whether you have a DSL or cable connection to the
Internet may influence your decision. Of course, you can save them on
floppies if your prefer, or just print the pictures and delete them if you
are short of hard disk space. I will list all the photos, but some of the
DeForest and Hoyt pictures will not be of interest to most (if any) of you.
In most cases, I prefer that you post your messages directly to the list
instead of sending them directly to me. This list should be a conversation
among us, not a monologue by me. But in this case, please send your
requests for pictures directly to me, not to the list. I can't send the
pictures via the mail list because Rootsweb strips off all attachments and
converts messages to plain text before retransmitting. Unless otherwise
noted, most of the photos are in good condition.
I will wait for a week or two before sending them. To make things easier
for me, I will send the pictures one at a time. Each picture will get sent
once to all those who have requested it in the small size and once to all
those who have requested it in the large size. When requesting photos,
please list the photo # and what size you want.
