John Dunham just called my attention to a problem that had escaped my
notice.
He noticed that two daughters of Bernard Nelson Dunham, show up on our
CaPaNe tree on roots web as 'LIVING Dunham'. He thought, correctly as
it turns out, that he'd told me that they had died.
So, first I looked at the tree on RootsWeb's WorldConnect pages -
because the IDs assigned there are not part of my database, they are
assigned during the export.
Naturally John was correct.
Then I looked at the database I'd exported from, and sure enough, in
that database, the people were listed as 'DECEASED Dunham' -- and
apparently were exported that way What happened was that because I left
the death date blank, when RootsWeb loaded my file into their database,
their program automatically changed 'DECEASED' to 'LIVING'.
A lot more records will have the same problem. I need to go back
through the database I export from and make sure that the death date is
not left blank for the DECEASEDs.
Then I'll re-export and upload again. I'll let you know once that's
been done. I've added lots of data since the 16th, so had planned to
re-export soon anyway.
Thanks John. Good catch. We live and learn.
And Happy Father's Day to all the dad's out there.
