I know that its been a long time since i wrote y'all
but have been really busy with the holidays and work.
just got your email and thought I'd write you back to
say "HI" and to say that all is well with me and my
family. In August 2004, I'm going up to portland, OR &
Vancouver, WA to visit family and friends and
hopefully try to locate the final resting place of my
great grandfather Frank Horton...I'll let you know
what I find out!!

I've recently had "First Contact" as the listeners
for extraterrestrials
say. In this case, not with aliens from outer
space, but with Campbell
Cousins.
Thanks to clues from Cousin Linda SLOAN Bass, and
some detective work by
list member Betty DAVIS Phillips, I've established
contact with Linda's
uncle, Don Rex Sloan. Don, who lives in FL, is a
son of James Lewis
Sloan (1893 - 1972), son of Joseph Campbell Sloan
(1849 - 1919), son of
Mary Ann Campbell (1812 - 1890), dau. of John
Campbell (1781 - 1866),
son of Joseph and Mary Harper Campbell. Don will be
sending me
additional data on on his Sloan line.
Coincidentally, soon after, I heard again from
another Sloan line -
Larry Huffman. Larry is a son of Velma Sampson,
dau. of Caroline
Nessner Sloan (1905 - 1991), dau. of another Joseph
Campbell Sloan (1853
- 1930), son of Mary Ann's sister, Jane Campbell
(1817 - 1887). Jane's
husband was Robt. J. Sloan (abt 1811 - 1863),
brother of Mary Ann's
husband James Louis Sloan (abt. 1804 - abt 1860).
Today I talked to Helen VAN DUSEN Hall in PA. Helen
is a dau. of Ross
E. Van Dusen (1895 - 1924), son of Ann Tubbs (1855 -
1930), dau. of Jane
Campbell (1834) - 1916), dau. of Joseph Campbell
(1793 - 1864), son of
Joseph & Mary Harper Campbell. Helen's late
husband, Francis Hall, was
a son of Chas. Burr Hall (1891 - 19xx), son of Mary
Merritt (1858/59 -
?), dau. Eliza A. Hazlett (1825 - 1899), dau. Jane
Campbell (1792 -
1832), dau. of Joseph & Mary Harper Campbell.
And, thanks to Helen, I called Joseph Hornesby in
OH, husband of
Francis' sister, Evelyn Hall, and will talk to
Evelyn later.
I got a bunch of additional names of their desc.,
birth and death
locations, and will be getting more data via
correspondence.
So bit by bit our family tree is getting "fleshed"
out -- if a tree can
do that.

Include dates and specific places if possible when
asking questions or
sharing data. E.g. 3 different villages are
"Farmington, PA" - none of
them in Tioga Co. Make it "Farmington Twp., Tioga
Co., PA" for clarity.
