Bill,
I am interested in how the Gurnseys fit in. My grandmother >talked about them
but at the time I wasn't interested and now it >is too late to ask her.
Thanks.

That's happen to all of us -- If only I'd asked ... about ...
Here's the little I have:
Wm. Guernsey, son of former sheriff H. A. Guernsey, d. Feb. 1880 in Chicago.
In 1848 he was in the PA militia, but I don't know if he served in the Mexican
War. The Mansfield Advertiser death notice said "buried Wells". Perhaps Wells
Twp. in Bradford Co.
Wm. married Mary Jane Cook, (1832 - 1894), bur. Nelson. She was the eldest
child of James Cook, b. 1804 in Lndley, Steuben Co., d. 1893 in Nelson. In
1831, James married Rachel Hazlett (1812 - 1893), 2nd child of John Hazlett
& Jane Campbell. James and Rachel are bur. in Nelson.
I don't know if Wm. and Mary Jane had any children. The Elmira Star-Gazette
every once in a while has an obit for a Guernsey, so some are still in the area,
but I don't know if any (other than Wm.) are related to us.
Perhaps someone on our mail list knows and can elucidate.
