Subject: [Ca-Pa-Ne has the easiest job --- just delegate all the work
and take all the credit. :)
The VP doesn't HAVE to do much. Preside at the reunion if the president
is absent. Become Pres. if the position becomes vacant. But the main
part usually to learn the president's job. And a very import to help
with the planning and and give give advice and assistance.
As I see it, the biggest part of the Sec-Treas job is to maintain and
extend our list of contact info for Campbell, Lugg, or Blackwell
descendants - e-mail if possible, otherwise, Facebook contact,"snail
mail" or phone. And use that to send reunion invitations. Of course to
take minutes of our brief business meetings. Keep a reunion
attendance list, and receipt for reimbursed expenses. Usually little
cash is left over after a reunion. When i was Sec., i also sent out
welcome letters to newly discovered members of our extended family. And
sent out an annual report including births, deaths and marriages.
The president's main job, as I see it, it to be concerned with the long
term health of the reunions, trying to balance continuing the unique
traditions that have made our reunion, with adapting to changing times
and the interests of present members. Presiding at the business meeting
amounts to about 10 minutes every other year. The main part is planning
and trying to make sure important bases are covered. As well as trying
to help the VP to be ready to be your successor.
Officers get no pay, but they do get acquainted with a lot of
interesting people. It can even be fun. Especially when the officers
work as a team, helping each other.
