Bill: Count your blessings that you remembered that quickly!! LOL...(with
Liberty and Justice for ALL!)
I wore my National Anthem Project shirt today........"Oh say can you
sing...." was part of the effort to get ADULTS in this country to know the
lyrics......believe it or not, a few years ago a poll showed that 70% of all
adults DID NOT KNOW OUR NATIONAL ANTHEM......We also contributed to the
reconditioning of the flag that flew over Ft McHenry on that special night of
Sept 13th 1814.......leading to the am verse (dawn Sept 14) that we now call
the "Star-Spangled Banner" but was really called "The Defence (sic) of Ft
McHenry"---God Bless Francis Scott Key---amateur poet albeit Lawyer-friend of
Pres Madison that he was!!!
And speaking of Keys, that's where i am headed !!!
That's the only history I am recalling today........and gratitude for any
military person who EVER had anything to do positively in our nation's
behalf! "God bless us, every one"- (thanks, Dickens!) ML

As I just posted to the Facebook Group:
Thanks for not jumping on me for my history faux pas. I was hurrying to
leave for a picnic at my son's when I sent it. And as soon as I got on
the highway it hit me that "with liberty and justice for all" is from
the Pledge of Allegiance, not the Declaration. The latter says "Life,
Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness". Very embarrassing for an amateur
historian. But at least it hit me withing a few minutes of hitting SEND.
