Hope you've all recovered from your turkey, cranberries, etc.
Most of us have a lot to be thankful for (such as having a lot of
interesting relatives).
One recent thing I'm thankful for is Cousin Larry Huffman sent me a scan
of pages of Pine Creek Cemetery in Allegheny Co. where several of our
Campbells are buried, including Joseph and Mary Harper Campbell's oldest
son, John Campbell (1781 - 1866). Like several of his older siblings,
he settled in Lancaster Co., PA. All but John and his older sister Mary
(1779 - 1824) resettled in Tioga Co., PA.
Even before the others moved to Nelson, John moved to a farm that was
then "near" Pittsburgh, but the area is now part of Pittsburgh's North
Side. John's sister Mary stayed in Lancaster Co. and died there.
Whereupon her husband, coincidentally named John Hazlett, moved to a
farm near John Campbell's, taking his children with him.
A partial "reading" of that cemetery has been available on line at

but unfortunately is sorted alphabetically, so you don't know who is
buried next to whom.
The list Larry scanned (which I can send to anyone interested) is by row
# & grave #, so all information is preserved. Larry is a 3rd
great-grandson of the above John Campbell. He's taken a lot of photos
of our relatives graves in 3 Allegheny Co. cemeteries and is adding
some of my data for a display at the North Hills Genealogy Society. He
hopes it may lead to more data from other researchers. Who knows, it
might even lead to contact with some "new" cousins we hadn't known about.
Some of the dates on the tombstones (at least as read by the
transcribers) differ from the information on that branch that Jane
CAMPBELL Tubbs presented back in 1901. I've updated my tree with
Larry's data and uploaded it to our "Campbells of Nelson, PA & Related
Luggs & Blackwells" pages on RootsWeb's WorldConnect. For those of you
who like numbers, the tree now has 12,484 individuals and 5,430 marriages.
Most of us are descendants of the Campbell siblings who came to Tioga
Co. So it's nice to be still in touch with some of our cousins whose
roots are in Allegheny Co., PA.
