I wondered if anyone would ask that. Not related on the Thompson side.
My father, Walter F. Thompson (1893 - 1973) and his only sibling,
Mauice G. Thompson (1891 - 1976), were born in Plattsburgh, Clinton Co.,
NY. Their father, also Walter F., immigrated in the 1880s from
Middlesex County, now part of northern London. My grandfather hoped
the northern NYS air would cure his TB, but died in Plattsburgh in 1895.
The widow, a nurse, married about 1905 to a Dr. Geo. C. Burnley, and
the family came to Nelson, PA, for reasons unknown. She died in Nelson
in 1909 and the boys ran away soon after, leaving Tioga Co. for good.
But dad met my mother in school there, began corresponding while he was
in the Navy, and after his discharged, returned just long enough to win
and marry, before moving away. He was a submariner, but was discharged
just before WW1 because of injuries from an explosion/fire in the engine
room So, my dad had no Thompson relatives in PA.
BUT, there are a number of tri-county Thompsons that married Campbell
Cousins.
On Apr. 13, 1907 in Elmira, Emma Thompson became the 2nd of the 3 wives
of Lee Marcus Seely.
On Mar 10, 1932, Ester Thompson (1915 - 1996) became the wife of Cecil
E. Cooper (1912 - 1969). She was a dau. of Frank G. and Libbie Thompson.
Robert Thompson recently m. Amanda Seely.
And in MI, Joseph John Thompson m. Martha Lee Moran, living. Ove in
Eng., one of Ann CLINCH Campbell's living English cousins, Daphne Mary
Essex, m. Paul Thompson.
Above are the Thompsons that I know my mother was related to via
Campbells.
Some of you may know of other Thompsons that married into our family.
