The bad news is that cousin Bruce Kimball Black died April 12, 2003, before our
efforts to locate him were sucessful.
An obituary may be found in the April 25, 2003 issue of the Statesman Journal
of Salem, OR. See
www.statesmanjournal.com, select obituaries, and specify
04/25/2003.
Our sympathies to his son, widow, and mother.
The good news is that his mother, the former Faith Jean Kimball, survives as
do her memories. Faith is now the second of the Campbell Cousins Correspondence
letter writers known to be alive. She wrote a letter in Vol. 3, 1925.
Her parents were Helen "Nellie" Campbell Horton and Zeno Clark Kimball. Nellie
was a daughter of Kate Ardell Campbell and Elisha "Lish" Shore Horton. Kate
was a daugher of Helen Peasly and Wm. Campbell, the eldest child of the 1793
Joseph Campbell and Ann Clinch.
Thanks go to Bruce' son for letting us know. It's a shame that we missed a
chance to know Bruce, but we now have an opportunity to get acquainted with
his son and with Faith. Some of the older cousins may remember her. Previously
I received photos of Faith and her family, plus biographical data on Faith,
from cousin Thelma (Ellison) Huyett. The resulting query I posted led to their
finding us. I know Henry, Thelma, Pauline, and Greg will be especially pleased
to hear we have established contact and look forward to the Blacks help in locating
other desc. of Kate.
