Thanks, Bill, for passing on the articles.

Glad you found them of interest. As did Betty Davis Phillips. Of
course she's close to them geographically AND genealogically. It would
be great if she gets to meet some of that branch.
I was a little surprised that you and Betty are not as much closer to
Benjamin Reed Parks than me as I had guessed. As you know, your dad and
Betty's mom were his 3rd cousins, whereas he was my 4th cousin.
I was telling Betty that it surprised me to discover so many "new"
cousins in the St. Pete area, because I had talked to many Parks desc.
in that area -- several Zurflies, some Mitchells & some Runyons, and
hadn't gotten a clue that James Parks' desc. were nearby. I asked Tom
and Sharon if they knew, but haven't heard back from them yet. Perhaps
they didn't know.
There was a wierd thing on my dad's side. He had 4 1st cousins we never
knew existed (all siblings). Those cousins and my family were both in
frequenct contact with other mutual first cousins and aunts and uncles
-- and no mention was ever made to them or to us of the existence of the
other. And some of them even still lived in the same town as my
great-aunts and great-uncles. My mon even met the uncle that was their
father and apparently didn't know he was a parent. The above is not 100
% accuate. I did once hear my dad mention that we had some LaMarche
cousin -- tho at the time I assumed he was saying 'Lamarsh'. Later I
learned that he had a LaMarche uncle by marriage, but knew that couple
hadn't had any children. So I just assumed he was speaking loosely
(which would have been out of character for him) and was just talking
about having some LaMarche relatives via that marriage -- not "real"
cousins. But eventually I discovered that one of those 4 unknown
siblings had been adopted by dad's aunt and her LaMarche husband,
resulting in a name change. And that fellow has many desc. (as do some
of the other siblings), whom I have enjoyed meeting and/or corresponding
with.
Hope all is well with you. We're super busy, and OK except for minor
stuff like pulled muscles that self cure given some time.
