Note that the two newspaper account differ by a week as to his death
date. Take your Pick:
Mansfield Advertiser of Apr 4, 1888 has:
Archibald Hazlett d. Middlebury Mar 16th, age 80-85, brother of Goerge
[sic] of Tioga, grandfather of Dr. Hazlett of Covington

Wellsboro Agitator of Tues, Apr 3, 1888 has:
Mr. Archibald Hazlett
Mr. Archibald Hazlett, of Middlebury, aged about 80 years, died suddenly
at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Abner Sweet, on the 23d ultimo. Mr.
Hazlett was born in Lancaster county in 1803, and he came to Nelson in
1811 with his parents. In 1826 he married Cynthia Hammond and moved to
Middlebury where he resided all the rest of his life. He leaves a large
family of adult children. In 1875 he joined the Baptist Church in
Middlebury, and he was a consistent Christian. The funeral was held
last week Monday, the service being conducted by Rev. Mr. Peckham, of Tioga.
If the 2nd obit is correct, he died on March 23, 1888 and the funeral
was on March 26th. I believe daughter Elsie HAZLETT Sweet lived in
Middlebury Twp. in 1888.
We know that Archibald, and parents, Sam & Sally Campbell Hazlett, lived
in PA near Stroudsburg in the fall of 1810 before coming to Nelson. One
of Jane CAMPBELL Tubbs' family history reports bears out the Lancaster
Co., PA part. Some of our current cousins had heard that Archibald also
lived in MD or NJ, but I have seen no evidence to support that.
