Bill,
I have really enjoyed the obits you have been passing on to us recently.
There is much to gleaned from them, especially with your informative added
notes of explanation.
Thanks again, Bill, for all you do for us Campbell Cousins.

Subject: [Ca-Pa-Ne] More on John Mahlon Boaard
Wellsboro Agitator of Oct 1, 1889 has:
"Mr. John M. Bosard
We, the committee appointed by Nelson Lodge, No. 434, I. O. O. F., of
Nelson, Pa., to draft suitable resolutions on the death of our late
Brother, Past Grand John M. Bosard, respectively submit the following:
Whereas, It has seemed good to Almighty God to remove from our midst,
while yet in the prime of life, our worthy and esteemed Brother John M.
Bosard, thus reminding us of the uncertainty of this life; and Whereas,
The relations held by the deceased with the members of this Lodge render
it proper that we should place on record our appreciation of his
services as a brother and his merits as a man; therefore, be it
Resolved, That we deplore the loss of Brother Bosard, and with deep
feeling of regret, softened only by the confident hope that his spirit
is with those who have fought the good fight are now enjoying happiness
in a better world. Resolved, That we, as members of the Nelson Lodge,
extend our heartfelt sympathy to the family of the deceased and commend
them for consolation to Him who orders all things for the best, and that
we will ever hold in remembrance our departed brother and will honor his
name as a faithful member of our Lodge, and that these resolutions be
place upon the minutes, a copy sent to the family, with whom we mourn
their loss, also that they be published in the Wellsboro Agitator. C.
F. Merritt, J. F. Baxter, W. E. Cady, Committee on Resolutions."
"C. F. Merritt" would have been Cousin Charles Fowler Merritt (1855 -
1916).
I expect that "J. F. Baxter" was Jesse F. Baxter (1854 - 1921).
Jesse Baxter's adopted sister, Sarah Jane, was the mother of Betsey
Philena "Lena" PRESTON (1877 - 1953) woh m. 1st Cousin Enoch Charles
"Charley/Charlie" Blackwell (1867 - 1927) and 2nd to Morris L. Smith
(1898 - 1975). Morris Smith's 1st wife Elizabeth Van Dusen TREXLER
Rupar Smith (1902 - 1992) was the grandmother of some of our Campbell
Cousins.
Jesse Baxter's sister, Dora Adeline BAXTER Tubbs (1864 - 1915) was the
mother of Elizabeth Philena "Bessie" Tubbs (1885 - 1943), wife of Cousin
Samuel Allen Seely (1883 - 1961). Dora BAXTER Tubbs was also the mother
of John Jesse Tubbs (1897 - 1967), 3rd husband of Eva Mildred STEADMAN
Van Dusen Tubbs Tubbs (1896 - 1972) and beloved step-father of the
children of Cousin Ross E. Van Dusen (1895 - 1924).
And lastly, Jesse Baxter's sister, Florence A. Baxter (1866 - 1922) m.
Albert J. Croffut (1870 - 1926). whom I believe, but have not yet
confirmed was related to my Hoyt line.
As for "W. E. Cady", I'm not sure about him. It is possible that he is
William Cady (1860 - 1921), brother-in-law of Cousin Jennie Mary SELPH
Cady (1873 - 1947). That same Wm. Cady was also the father-in-law of
Harvey Grant Mettitt (1891 - 1976), son of Charles Fowler Merritt
above. But at present, I don't know William Cady's middle initial, so I
don't know if he is "W. E. Cady"
