Polly-O has Italian roots. See
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polly-O.
But several. of Rudolph Louis Bollers sons (and his widow) operated cheese
factories. And some of the family did come to Steuben Co., settling in
Jasper and Canisteo.
William Boller did operate a milk route, picking up milk cans from farms in
Nelson Twp and taking them to the creamery in Elkland, which as I recall
made Pet brand condensed milk.

Good grief! Thought you were gonna say he started the POLLY-O cheese
factory in CAMPBELL!!!!
Don't know who did but my dad bought ricotta form them while we had to
have
milk form both Maple Farms and DairyLea as all had bought fleet cars from
him...so we grew up with calcium in supply, for sure....and diodn't worry
about the cows' milk having radiation or DDT poisoning....Those were the
days, my friend.......we thought they'd never end....etc.
GOd bless you for your hard work! Thanks-cuz..

Our family tree keeps growing. Lots of additional people and marriages are
now in the tree ---- 13,002 individuals and 5,628 marriages. Many of the
updates are adding birth dates and locations for parents of spouses
marrying
into the clan.
It won't interest most of you, but I've figured out the tree for the
Bollers
connected to our family. I had a lot of old photos of the people, but
didn't
know which were siblings, nephews, etc. At last I figured it out and have
been in touch with several living members of the Boller family. William
Boller (1867 - 1947), my namesake great-uncle, married Campbell Cousin
Inez
Hoyt (1871 - 1934). The family were cheese makers in Wyoming and Allegany
Counties.
Some of you may find the following bio of interest. It's about William's
father, Rudolph Lous Boller, b. 1824 in Hesse (now Germany), d. bef. 1900.
It appears in the "History of Allegany County:, which Cousin Diane Owlett
Pitts kindly gave me on CD.
"R. L. Boller, son of Henry Boller of Germany, who married Louisa,
daughter
of Lord Von Vultyus, was born in 1824 and is the youngest of their nine
children. When a young man, he was a clerk in a sugar refinery in Cassel,
Germany, and then traveled in Europe, Asia and Africa, as a ship agent,
also
agent for a tobacco house. In 1851 he came to West Branch, Oneida Co., and
was a partner in a woolen factory and a dairy farmer until he built at Ava
in 1862 a cheese factory still known by his name. In 1865, he came to
Varysburg, Wyoming Co., and built and ran for five years, a cheese factory
between Warsaw and Wyoming, which he moved to Orangeville and ran six
years,
sold it and built a factory at Perry Center, ran that six years, then sold
and rented a factory at Pike Station for one year, was at Campbell Hill
one
year, at Town Line one year, at West Allen one year, then in 1883 he
bought
his present cheese factory in Hume. Mr. Boller married, in 1856, Katrine
Ernest, of Ava. Their children have been John, Minnie, William, Albert,
Gertrude, Jennie, and Louisa."
