Data on Emory Hoyt, his father Joseph E. Hoyt, and on David Hoyt is in
our on-line tree, /Campbells of Nelson, PA & Related Luggs &
Blackwells. /I usually reload it every couple of weeks. Of course
RootsWeb's privacy protection software changes the first names of people
it decides are living to 'Living', and does not show any of the other
information about them other than last name and gender, for them,
spouses, descendants, and parents.
But for people who are deceased, all the info is there.
Emory Hoyt's father, Joseph Edward Hoyt, was a 2nd cousin of Phebe
CAMPBELL Hoyt, via the Luggs. Phebe's son, and my grandfather, was
Joseph DeForest Hoyt, who only had one wife, Frances Viola Goodrich, and
three daughters. Most of the Hoyt's in Tioga Co., PA, are descendants
of early settlers of the Wyoming Valley (Wilkes-Barre region) with CT
titles to the land. As you may recall, CT claimed all of PA (and
westward), except for NYS, that fell between its northern and southern
boundries. When other settlers from S.E. PA arrived with PA titles to
the same land, the Pennamite Wars broke out between the settlers from CT
and those from southern PA. The settlements were wiped out at the start
of the Revolution in the Wyoming Massacre.
After the Revolution, many of those Hoyts from Luzerne and Lackawana
Counties decided to settle in Tioga Co (which was then Tioga Twp. of
Lycoming Co.). Phebe's husband, William Hoyt, came from a line of Hoyts
that had been bouncing back and forth across the NY-CT line for several
generations, much as some of our Lawrenceville or Addison families did.
There's probably a Hoyt connection in CT in the 1600s or early 1700s,
but I haven't found it yet.
As you can see on-line, Joseph Edward Hoyt, was a son of Alanson Hoyt
(1819 - 1900) and Mary Ann Lugg (1821 - 1910).
The David Hoyt (1816 - 1895) you asked about, m. 1st Sarah Lugg (1819 -
1894). She was a sister of Mary Ann Lugg, above, who m. Alanson Hoyt.
Those sisters were 1st cousins of Ann CLINCH Campbell and Mary BLACKWELL
Campbell.
David Hoyt m. 2nd Charlotte Parmelia Baxter, and his wife Sarah Lugg had
previously m. Isaac Whitehead.
So, the on-line /Campbells of Nelson, PA & Related Luggs & Blackwells/
probably won't answer your questions about living people, but it's a
good place to look for our deceased relatives. For now, we can regard
the 'Hoyt' part as coincidence', and just think of Emory and his father
as our Lugg cousins. (Sorry Marylyn, that leave you out.)

Yes, I'm into clippings today, and have now found one for the
death of Emory
J Hoyt, age 40, of Tioga Township. He was the son of Mr & Mrs. Joseph Hoyt,
He married Ruth Camp, daughter of Rufus Camp and they had two daughters,
Eloise and Ruthadele. The notice lists death date as Aug 6, with 1924 hand
written on the clipping.
Was Joseph Hoyt (1860) married prior to his marriage to Frances Goodrich in
1890 ? There are 4 brothers and 3 sisiters also listed that do not seem to
be any of the three children I believed Frances and Joseph to have had.
