Below is a message sent to those who attended last month's Campbell
Reunion. Sorry you all couldn't be there, hopefully you can join is for
the next one, in 2008.
I also sent out to all who attended a "mini-family tree" listing the
attendees and all the ancestral steps that connect them to Joseph and
Mary Harper Campbell. If any of you would like that, please let me know
and I'll send you a copy.
Because this message will be stored on the Web, I've ommitted the list of births and
marriages that were at the end of the original.
Births and marriages were included in the version that went to the attendees and to the
"Campbell Cousins".
If you would like to see them, please let me know, and I'll send them to you directly,
not via the list.
The family tree I published on RootsWeb's WorldConnect web pages as
database CaPaNe, now contains 3973 individuals and 1878 marriages. Much
of the information has not been verified, additions and corrections are
appreciated. Per RootsWeb's policies, and some state laws, information
about living people has been curtailed to protect privacy. I do have
additional children and grandchildren for many of the folks, that
intentionally do not show on the website. Please feel free to ask
questions. The bill.thompson(a)wtassoc.com e-mail address will soon be
phased out. For the foreseeable future, capane(a)verizon.net will be the
replacement address.
Best Regards, Cousin Bill Thompson, Secretary

Campbell Reunion – 2006
I'm sure everyone both enjoyed the day and was very glad to see Rieta
feeling so chipper.
On the whole, I thought it went very well. Our congratulations and
thanks for a job well done are in order to all those who helped make it
possible.
Status as honorary attendee should perhaps be granted to Cousin Judy
HAZLETT Abel, who had planed to attend, and helped notify our cousins in
Lawrenceville. She was unable to attend Sunday because of a shingles
attack. My dad and brother both had that, so I have some idea how
difficult and painful that can be. Let's hope Judy's case is mild and
quickly goes away.
If you had a good time, please let other family members know -- maybe
they'll join us in 2008. But success shouldn't measured by the size of
the turnout. What counts is the warmth, the friendliness, and the
percentage that had a good time and want to come again. And friendships
formed or strengthened.
I want to thank all of you for coming, for sharing your food, and for
helping to make it a friendly event. Several newcomers expressed
appreciation for how warmly they were welcomed and accepted -- good job.

Minutes of the 53rd Campbell Reunion
The 53rd Reunion of the Campbell Reunion Society of Nelson, was held
Sunday, June 11, 2006, at the Iroquois Pavilion, South Shore Recreation
Area, Cowanesque Lake, Nelson, PA.
People were invited to arrive starting at 11 AM, and were so punctual
that as of 10:58 your officers wondered if anyone one was actually
coming. At 11, a caravan appeared and people continued to arrive at
various times throughout the day, as their schedules permitted.
People got acquainted with new attendees and greeted old friends, looked
at memorabilia, chatted, and thanks to Diane, sipped hot coffee (the
morning was cool). There were some great framed photos of Eleanor
CAMPBELL Bosard, and of John Mahlon Bosard, a framed print of Will
Selph's 1924 Genealogy chart of the Joseph and Ann Clinch Campbell line,
a couple of fantastic family trees by Tom Zurflieh into which photos
were inserted next to names, a handwritten deed transferring James
Campbell's farm from son Robert Campbell to A. W. Lugg, books given to
James by his father (the 1748 Joseph Campbell), plus additional photos
and old items.
Sadly our President, Leonard Hamblin, had not recovered sufficiently
from his strokes to be able to attend. This reunion was due to be held
in 2005, but was delayed because of his illness. V.P. Rieta Boyden
presided today. After brief welcoming remarks at 12:45, we proceeded
with another tasty and ample covered dish picnic.
After lunch, V. P. Rieta Boyden called the business meeting to order
Sec. Bill Thompson gave a brief synopsis of the 2003 reunion minutes,
and Treas. Judy Thompson, gave a brief summary of the finances – zero
cash on hand, with a hat being passed to hopefully cover the expenses of
pavilion rental, postage, etc. They 2003 reunion ended with a deficit,
which was made up by donations from the officers (perhaps the weather
kept down attendance).
Out of area attendees were recognized: Betty DAVIS Philips from FL, and
Judy Thompson from GA. Special recognition was given to Tom Campbell and
wife Joan as being the only attendees who still carry the Campbell
surname. Special recognition was also given to Lorenza “Ren” KEMP Davis,
who had attended the original Campbell Reunion series when she was about 14.
The other attendees introduced themselves, and Ren's beautiful hat was
used to take a collection.
A printed program had been distributed, based on that of the 1894
reunion. This year we did not have any music, but Judy Thompson read a
poem submitted by her daughter Frances, who has attended past reunions,
but is now in Iraq. Bill's wife, Mary Lilley-Thompson, did a fun
recitation of “Lime Jello Marshmallow Cottage Cheese Surprise”.
Fortunately no one brought that dish to the picnic.
The following were nominated as officers: Rieta Boyden, Pres.; Lois
Hassoldt, VP;, Bill Thompson, Sec.; and Judy Thompson, Treas. After
accepting the nominations, the slate was elected unanimously.
After a discussion of reunion frequency, it was decided to continue the
practice of holding them every other year. But rather than trying to get
back to holding them in odd numbered years, we will just continue with
even numbered years.
During the 1893 – 1942 years, there was an arrangements committee to
help with the details. In the new series, the President has had to deal
with the arrangement details. Jeanne Tomb and Sharon Hatcher agreed to
take care of selecting a time and place for our 2008 reunion. It may be
in August at the Nelson community picnic grounds, but that will be
confirmed later.
The meeting was adjourned and people continued to socialize and help
reduce the amount of desert that had to be taken home.

concerns]
There were probably many more deaths, marriages and births I don't have data for.
Additions and
corrections are welcomed.
