Hello List,
Awhile back I was told or read a story how Abigail Campbell (widow of Thomas
A. Campbell)
had to put her son Clarence Lysle Campbell into an orphanage in 1906. they
lived in hoytville Pa. Has anyone else seen or heard this story it might of
been on the Tri-County Website. I would be grateful for any help on this tidbit.
Cathy
Sorry. Don't know the story.
I have Thomas A. as b. Aug 8, 1843 in Tioga Co., PA, bur. Mt. Pleasant
Cem., Morris Twp., m. Apr 14, 1866 in Columbia Cross Roads, Bradford
Co., PA, to Abigail Fish, b. May 5, 1850 in NY. As of 1895 Thomas still
lived in Morris Twp. and was listed as "laborer". He served in the 16th
PA Cavalry, 2nd Brigade, Sheridan's Corps. He was a son of Geo W.
Campbell, there were many, but this one was (1820- 1892) & Mary Ann Van
Dusen (1829 - ?).
I have Clarence Lysle as the youngest of their children, b. Aug 23,
1895. in Morris Twp., so he would have been 11 in 1906. The tombstone
readings don't show a death date for Thomas -- so I don't know how long
Abigail would have been a widow in 1906. I have the other children as
born 1868, 1870, 1877, 1876 & 1879, but don't know how long they lived.
