Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Tom Zurflieh and I have been busy, and with Judy Thompson's help, expect ot have
new, annotated, editions of Volume 1 (1923) and Volume 2 (1924), of the Campbell
Cousins Correspondence ready in time for this Sept's reunion.
Those of you who purchased our first edition of Vol 1 will get -- at no charge
-- corrected, replacement copies of letters in which we discovered we had made
typos, and a replacement for the entire Annotations section. It contained only
a couple of errors, but we have acquired a lot more information in the intervening
two years. These pages will be prepunched, so those of you with comb bindings
can just remove and replace pages as appropriate. Those coming to the reunion
can pick up their correctons then. Those not coming may need to e-mail me to
remind me who bought Vol. 1.
Those who would like bound copies of Vol. 1 or Vol. 2, please e-mail me directly
-- not on the mail list -- and let me know how many copies you would like.
We want to print enough. In 2001, they cost us $20 each to produce. This year,
it may cost us slightly more to have them printed and bound. Some of the options
we are considering have a set up cost, so the precise cost per copy cannot be
determined until we know how many copies to print. Nevertheless, we expect
the cost to be somewhere between $20 and $25 per copy. As those of you who
have seen them know, they are on a fine, long lasting paper -- for better quality
reproductions of the photos -- and have sturdy covers. We will use the same
cover material as last time.
I'll send out a similar e-mail to those Campbell descendents I have e-mail addresses
for, so apologies in advance, to those who directly receive a similar notice
to this one for the list.
Those of you who are prospering and/or generous, may want to make a donation
to cover the cost of three copies so we can donate one each to the Steele Memorial
Libray in Elmira, the Knoxville Public Library, and the Tioga Co. Historical
Society.
Speaking of donations, some who can't make it to this year's reunion, have sent
donations to help defray the costs. We'll list donors name on this list, unless
they ask to remain annomous. So far, for just the pavillion rental, and printing
and mailing 200 invitations, we have spent $158. And we will incur additonal
costs for buying supplies for the picnic, such as coffee, cups, etc. We will
"pass the hat" at the reunion to recover (hopefully) the costs, but those of
you who cannot attend may want to send a donation to our treasurer in support
of the event.
So please consider contributing, in person or by mail, so that we can continue
holding reunions. And, if you want copies of Vol. 1 or 2, please let me know
ASAP how many of each.
Lastly, if you are an "out of area" attendee of the reunion, remember that to
get the discount rate, you have to make your reservation at the Best Western
a month in advance - that's in the next couple of weeks.
