Some of the descendants of Robert and Jane Campbell of Antrim, Guernsey County, Ohio,
held their annual Thanksgiving reunion at Newark, in 1976. There is a photo with the
story and I will be glad to send PDF to anyone asking.
Mrs. Walter Richardson, Newark; Mrs Charles (Jean) Rothweiler, Newark; Mr and Mrs Russell
Campbell, Columbus are in the photo. The story tells of Robert Campbell 1771-1842 and
his wife Jane (from other sources we believe her maiden name was Campbell) 1773-1848.
They emigrated from County Antrim, Ulster, about 1800 and purchased land in Guernsey
County a few years later. They named the Ohio community Antrim. John Campbell a son
married Mary Sleeth and one of their sons David Etchen Campbell married Sarah White and
farmed near Mt Perry, Perry County, Ohio. Two of his children married children of John
Milton Clark, a well-to-do farmer and Justice of the Peace, who lived nearby.
Robert S. 1865-1937 married Clara Leota Clark 1866 or 67 - 1938, his sister Allie Lorena
Campbell 1866-1931 married Elmer Ellsworth Clark 1865-1925. (Elmer was named in honor of
Elmer Ellsworth - a hero - the first soldier killed in action in the Civil War.)
I have added to the newspaper account from Clark family history and from the papers of
Emma Mellou Campbell 1870-1935, a great-granddaughter of the progenitor.
other namews mentioned in the newspaper account:
Mrs john (Lois) Pfieffer
David and Joan Hussey
Mrs Dorthy Kern
John, Wayne, Mrs Nettie Sterns, Mrs Water (Alta May) Richardson - surviving children of
Robert and Clara Campbell.
Jeff Logan also a descendant was playing football at The Ohio State University.
The progenitor reportedly or probably brought a younger brother Alexander born 1796
with him. Alexander's wife, Eleanor was born 1801 died March 14, 1848.

We are working on a book to honor Allie Campbell, one of my wife's grandmothers. We
have a photo or two of her.
Be glad to discuss this family - we have never found a link to Antrim, and the connection
to the Sleeth tribe needs work.
Allie's husband, Elmer, was a superintendent of the Episcopal Methodist church at Mt.
Perry. For a generation or two his children were Methodists.
