UEL stands for United Empire Loyalist, who were those who fought on the
side of the British in the American Revolutionary War. Most of them
settled in Canada during the 1780's.
This lot is located in Mille Roches, Ontario, Canada which is near
Cornwall, Stormont Co., Ontario, Canada. This is in eastern Ontario near
the border to the province of Quebec and right at the U.S. border.
Massena, St. Lawrence County, New York is right on the other side of the
St.Lawrence River. The town of Mille Roches no longer exists as it is
one of the towns lost when the area was flooded to expand the
St.Lawrence seaway.
