While you might not have the resources to wonder around South Carolina,
Lance, if there is an LDS Family History Center near you, the records
that you need to search may be within reach. Use the internet to give
you clues but not be the answer to your research questions.
You can go to
http://www.familysearch.org and search the catalog to see
if LDS has records that you need. Going back to the 1700s might prove
to be difficult.
Have you checked the Antrim records availability? You will need to
check with the Northern Ireland GRO (government records office) to see
how far back they have church records (date before civil registration of
births in Ireland).

Vital records were not recorded in So. Carolina till 1915, so you will
have to rely on church records there also. Try the South Carolina
GenWeb site and maybe you can get some help there over the availability
of church records:
