Hi All --
I am new to this list and am researching my Loudon family -- originally from Scotland,
then to Ireland, then to New York in about 1800.
My immigrant ancestor, Joseph, was married to Jane McConnelle, and was born in Londonderry
about 1766. Family tradition holds that our Loudon family is connected to the Castle
Loudoun and the Campbell Clan. However, I can't find any solid connection to Ireland
and/or Scotland.
Last week I found the following information posted on
ancestry.com and is the first
possible connection I've found - however I can't find the source material. Nor
does it connect to the Castle Loudoun.
Joseph's parents were John and Ann - both born and died in Londonderry.
John's parents were John and Jane Campbell Loudon
John's parents were Nicholas Loaden and Elizabeth Morton
Nicholas' parents were James Loaden and Unknown
James' parents were James Lothian and Margaret Cunningham.
I would very much appreciate any assistance on my Loudon family research.
Many thanks!
Sue Graham
