Hi everyone,
Please excuse me if I make any mistakes, I am quite a novice at computers
and geneology.
I am looking for James Campbell who married Janet Craig somewhere in
Ireland. Unfortunately that is all the information I have. My late mum
told me he was born in Ireland but she was never able to find out where.
James' daughter Emma Campbell married a Henry Harding in Gocup, Australia.
On their marriage certificate there is a Frederick and Helena Campbell shown
as witnesses.
Any help would be appreciated. Also, could anyone explain to me what the
Falaise Roll and the LDS or LSD and IGI initials stand for. I have many
ancestors in Ireland and am having trouble finding information.
Yours
Helen
Hi Helen: LDS stands for Latter Day Saints - the Mormon Church. They have
filmed records all over the world and these microfilms are available at LDS
Family History centers. They can be rented for a small sum and you get to
review them. The IGI
is the International Genealogical Index which is on the LDS computer. If you
can determine if your local Mormon Church has a Family History Center (they
don't all have one) you can review the IGI right there on the computer by
plugging in your ancestors names and seeing if anyone else has done work on
that line and has submitted it to the IGI. Can't help with the other item
you mentioned.
Always remember - everyone needed help when they began this effort. Ask away
with whatever questions you have!
Good luck with your research. Donna
