<< Linda,
My Dad is from Malad. Williams Peter Camp and Ann Morse had 14 Children.
Six of these lived into adulthood. There were 4 girls and two boys. The
boys were Williams Peter Camp and Alvin Morse Camp. The four girls were
Amelia, Margaret, Emma, and Deseret. Both Amelia and Emma married
Hunsakers. Emma Hunsaker is my Dad's Aunt. As far as I can tell, Williams
Peter Camp Came to Samaria with his Mother Amelia Evans Camp Davis. Amelia
Evans apparently divorced Willams Washington Camp at some point and left
Salt Lake with her new family. Williams Peter was about 18 when this move
occured. We always thought she was Buried in Salt lake because that is
where Williams Washington Camp is buried. Then last year, my dad and I
were in Samaria and found a lady who had compiled a book of rememberance
for the people buried in the Samaria Cemetery. Amelia Evans Camp is buried
there. Also, a lot of Williams Peter's Children who didn't grow to
adulthood are buried there. We took pictures of the headstones and bought
a copy of her book of rememberance. Williams Peter Camp made His home 3 or
four miles away in Pleasentview, ID. He and Ann Morse are buried in the
Pleasentview Cemetery. My Grandfather, Alvin Morse Camp, made his home in
St John, ID until he lost the farm and moved into Malad. Samaria,
Pleasentview, and St John are all farming communities surrounding Malad.
For those that don't know where Malad is, it is in Southern Idaho, about 12
miles from the Utah border on I-15.
Alvin Morse Camp married Ethel Williams as a young man but, she died before
the couple had any children. After her death, He married Margaret Pierce
(my Grandma). They had eight children. the first, Ethel, died at birth.
The other seven I have known for all of my life. in order they are Ann,
Neith, Alvin M. Camp II, Larue, William Peter Camp, Carma, and Melba. 5
daughters and two sons.
In 1985, the 100th anniversary of St John, a book was compiled of all the
people from St. John. All seven of Alvin Morse Camp's children tell
stories of growing up in St John and Malad. There are entries from Alvin
Morse Camp's Journal and Margaret Pierce's journal also.
My dad has been doing a lot of genelogy. He has discovered that Williams
Washington Camp had 23 children. He had 16 with Dinnah Greer, 5 with
Amelia Evans, and 2 with Margaret McLean >>
