This may not help much, but while in Richmond about twelve years ago
while just beginning my research on my Camp line I discovered some
lawsuits involving James Camp and his father-in-law. I first thought
it was my James Camp (who is the son of John Camp and Mary Tarpley).
It seems that Sarah Jennings father was doing everything he could to
keep James and Sarah in Virginia to the point of trying to disinherit
her or take back her dowry. I am not sure of all of the details, but
was amazed that they would trek back and forth such a distance to
answer the suit. I'll see if I can locate any of the actual papers.
I made copies thinking they might be needed someday, but since I
found it wasn't my line I put them away. We have since moved so
I can't put my hands on them right away.

This is part of my husband's line. I don't have much...nothing
documented...but a relative had given the following info. Sorry but I don't
have any dates. This family moved to South Carolina - Spartanburg area from
VA when the children were quite young. It was said that James CAMP died
about
4 years after the move, when his daughter Narcissus was 12 years
old.
James CAMP married Sarah JENNINGS and had the following children :
Narcissus CAMP (oldest) married Thomas BRIAN (my husband's line)
Alfred CAMP
Joseph CAMP
William CAMP
James CAMP
Harriet CAMP, may have married a RAY
Is the 1850 Census mentioned for Benton County, Tenn?
