Hi Dwight, Carole and others following the Camp/Tarpley/Oldham discussion.
Thank you for sending the corrected spelling of Biddlecomb and the
information on where the Peachey name comes in. I really was confused on
this one.
The James Tarpley, however, you referenced is beginning to sound more and
more like the one Carole referred to. The James b. 1692 that everyone is
showing married Mary Campe is shown as having died in 1765 in Charlotte Co.,
Virginia. This is fifteen years before the will you are referencing.
Whereas, his son, James b. 1743 who married Tabitha Oldham died sometime
before 6 Feb. 1792. (This is from the Oldham list of Tarpley descendants.)
As I noted in an earlier e-mail, this James did have a son named John and a
son named Oldham. Does the will you are referring to include the birth date
of the James so we can be sure which one he is?
The friend of my friend came through. The "Virginia Genealogist" article is
in the mail. I apologize if my query is helping to muddy the waters on
this, but I am sure that everyone wants to have as accurate information as
possible.
