I thought I would re-post my interests:
My grandfather, Frederick Stanley CAMP Jr. b. 4 Jun 1897 Boston, son of
Frederick Stanley CAMP b.? d.1939 West Hartford, CT; and Bertha PAYNE [know
nothing about her except she died young, and her mother was Mary TIGHE, b.
1 May 1870 (year is suspect) Castlekelly (either Kilkenny or Galway), IRL,
d. 11 Jun 1939 Binghamton NY].
Frederick Stanley CAMP Sr. was the son of Harvey C. CAMP and ?. After the
death of Bertha, he later married Louise WOODBURY. They had a child,
Woodbury CAMP, b.4 Apr 1909 Stamford CT, d. Dec. 1973 Glendale, CA.
Harvey C. CAMP either grew up in Ohio or visited relatives there; we have a
written account of his youth (about 8 years of age) during the Civil War,
when this relative's barn was a stopover on the underground railroad,
assisting runaway slaves headed northward. Also in this little memoir, he
mentions seeing Lincoln's train coming through Ohio, with Lincoln waving
off the back. I can't remember what town this was, and the memoir is
stashed away amongst my late mother's things 1,500 miles from me. Anyway,
from this, I have figured that Harvey C. CAMP was probably born about 1855
or so.
Anyone?
