Hello. I have an interesting, undated, and entirely hand-written document that relates,
as far as I've been able to determine, to the 1783 Treaty of Paris. I'd like to
share this information, and perhaps learn more about it. The document begins: "We
the subscribers agree to pay Mr. Samuel C. Camp & others a committee to make
arrangements for selebrating (sic) the ratification of peace, the sum or sums annexed to
our several names to be improved in the purchase of powder & other necessaries."
36 names and the corresponding subscription amounts (in dollars and cents) follow. They
are, as best as I can transcribe: Budgman Guernsy, Samuel C. Camp, Deacon Abner Newton,
Jess Alwell, Richard Robinson, Worthington G. Chauncy, John Butler, Capt. Stephen
Robinson, Richard Hubbard, Capt. O---ids Camp, Capt. Charles Robinson, Wm. Smith, Wm.
Knowls, Adam Baldwin, Hezekiah Baldwin, Roger Newton, Isaac Newton, Lemuel Camp, Denis
Camp, Wm. Brainard, Daniel Hickcox, L.P. Chauncy, James R!
obinson, Pa-- a- Coe, Charles Camp, H--th Camp, Joseph Camp, John White, Samuel Hall,
Capt. Man--h Camp, Samuel Curley, James Clark, Daniel -ut-s, John Loveland, Asahel Strong.
Your website names the aforementioned Samuel C. Camp, citing his place and date of birth
as Hartford, 1694. There is, however, no reference to his date of death. I would be happy
to send an image of this document to any interested party. My sole interest is to share
the information I have, and to hopefully learn from yours. Mark H. Bell, Newburgh, NY
